LONDON Recruiting, 1.2M+ respect (39th overall) · · 7 likes

About us:

We are a small, but tough faction, composed of players from all over the world (UK, USA, Australia, and Canada having the most representation). If you check Tornstats for Total Respect gained, you'll notice that we have some HoF chainers in our faction. Butters is 12th, Morbid-pinky is 26th, and G-STAR01 is 32nd. I'm not too shabby at 99th, but I'm doing my best to catch up. So, we're small, but we hit above our weight.

According to Torn stats (https://www.tornstats.com/topfactions.php), as of April 2nd, we are ranked 22nd for respect gained in the latest month.

Our baseline is 1 to 2 100-hit chains per day, more if we are fighting a serious war. Outside of that, you are welcome (expected really) to train with your remaining Energy. If you want just about all the perks of the big HoF factions in a low-key faction, LONDON is where you want to be.

Participate in chains regularly to earn our respect. Participate in chains heavily to earn our loyalty.

Current status / notes / updates (i.e. to be edited):

We resume war mode in early June. We will be swapping Criminality for Suppression while warring. That should free up enough respect to raise our rehab discount to 8%-10%

Requirements:
Battle stats - 1 million total (non-whored) (negotiable for very active players)
Nerve - 25 natural nerve
Activity - Login 2-3 times a day

How to apply:

Contact: Belwilliam [79148] | Morbid-pinky [1280063] | G-STAR01 [1290526]

Benefits / Perks:

Xanax, refills, meds, and sometimes cans/FHC's are provided for free during chains.

For our newbie, active chainers, we sometimes give out 50-100 xanax + some rehab money (or equivalent value) for training as a reward for heavy chaining when we switch to training mode. If we have several new, qualified, active recruits, we can hold a hit count + respect gained competition with a more significant prize during War mode (likely 1 month duration).

I have 3 Castles I have received over the years from HRG that are just lying around. I would be willing to rent these out for free to active chainers that need a decent house while they're building their wealth (if interested, contact me when you apply). I also have a block of ELBT I can use to upgrade properties FOR members (personal or for resale/rent); no charge, but you have to trust me (haven't scammed anyone in 12 years of Torn).

We have a faction oil rig where faction members with half-way decent job stats have priority for open spots. We may soon get a faction TV Network if enough people are interested.

Territories controlled: 12 (currently 1279 respect per day)

Tolerance:
Addiction XXV - reduces addiction gains by 50%
Side Effects III - 9% reduction in passive negative drug effects
Overdosing I - reduces overdose chance by 3%

Suppression:
13% Passive Dexterity
12% Passive Defense

+7% life

Steadfast:
Strength - boosts strength gains in the gym (currently +6%)
Speed - boosts speed gains in the gym (currently +6%)
Defence - boosts defense gains in the gym (currently +5%)
Dexterity - boosts dexterity gains in the gym (currently +6%)

Excursion:
Travel capacity VIII - +8 item carrying when flying

ok, nearly everyone that replied here is a very likely a scripter..and probably a Millenial.

Yeah, it's not that hard to take 3x xanax per day...but for 2000 days? I see someone that's almost 2150 days old with 6250 xanax taken....sure, they never flew to rehab and forgot to fly back (because a script did that for them). They (almost?) never had a busy day and missed a xanax....2150 days old * 3 = 6450 max xanax, 6450 - 6250 (actual taken) = 200. 200 / 3 = 66 days. So, the player got 4x stats to the cutoff for xanax being better than high happy training in just 66 days and somehow started with enough money to start dumping xanax.

Here we go, JFA Hildegarde, 270 days old, 99B networth, 771 xanax taken, yep, nothing to see here....Git Gud like Hildegarde and all his scripting buddies....Yeah, reroll, transfer money from old account, start scripting....seems legit.

As far as the "Git Gud" shit goes, my Networth was around 75th in the game before I got disgusted with the nerf to oil rigs and transferred it to a faction-mate to manage. Note that I never got rich off of the old, OLD, OLD stock market as did several of the other 74 players above me.

With the number of SE's on me and my stats, I could gain about 300 million stats before the end of the weekend and about 500 million'ish before I ran out and had to buy more......I spent years developing economic "power" in-game to support infinite xanax, multiple SE's (or dozens of cans/FHC's) per month, etc and then Ched gave you all 1 free xanax per day and extra happy gains.....easy money from Company jobs.

@Ched: your game is done...it was good for (most of) the first 4000 days even. Stats, money, accounts (i.e. pretty much the whole game), don't mean anything if you look the other way. I do not find it fun once a game reaches the point where the admin(s) might as well be executing SQL statements on most of the user table to jack up stats. Maybe you can send out a Collectible "You're #1" Trophy to all players so the millenials don't have to cry themselves to sleep tonight. Change the CAPTCHA system randomly multiple times per day for a week and we'll see how many players' near-perfect xanax records suddenly falter.

Making a game easy does not make it more fun, it makes it boring (except maybe to those used to their hard-earned participation trophy)

Running into many players with nearly 3x xanax taken times days old, very wealthy for their age.

@Ched: please add auto-train, auto crimes, auto flower-run, auto-trade, auto-chain, auto-chat, auto-bitch-on-forums and then our CPU's can all compete on even footing with each other.

GD it.....I thought this thread was going to be about Titties

Fix stock NPC ·

WLT has been elevated for almost 3 days and it appears to have not bought back any shares from anyone.

If it will issue $800B worth of shares when the market is empty of shares for a day or two, it also needs to be willing to buy some of those shares back during upswings. It doesn't do that enough for FHG and HRG and that is why those stocks are pretty dead. (it over over OVER saturated those markets)

Calculated Mass Kick · · 6 likes

I agree with Mat.

I kicked about 8 or 9 people (including friends) last week for still having revives enabled 1-2 days after I told everyone to disable them. Obviously all of my friends came back (with revives off), but so did all of the people that actually contribute to chains.

The people that haven't come back....especially those that haven't even logged in since then.....good riddance.

Our opponent at the time obviously thought it was lame...but we won. Would you keep around a security guard that repeatedly allowed things to be stolen (respect in this case)? Kicking wasn't a war "strategy" per se, so much as enforcing the rules and cleaning house of those that were not following them.

Look Cat, I don't usually "extort" people. In the rare cases I give NAPs, it is usually for free to be people that ask nicely and stay polite even if I ignore them.

I ask for something in exchange for a NAP only when someone is being rude or to offer some kind of NAP when I really don't care to give one.

The more someone is annoying me with their inability to deal with being hosped a couple times per day, the higher the price. I don't need money... The price is there to discourage people from asking for something I don't care to give

Element https://www.torn.com/factions.php?step=profile&ID=10610, led by CatsClaw (https://www.torn.com/profiles.php?XID=1641178) has essentially demanded a NAP because it is inconvenient for her to be filler.

It looks to me like her faction is benefitting from 317k respect. Factions and their upgrades being a benefit resulting from war or at least being subject to war (with the advent of territories)

She kicked her faction to avoid being good filler and I informed her that doing so will not get her out of being filler or everyone would just do that.

I was "nice" and offered a 100 day NAP for a high price (I normally offer no NAP's). She has responded by putting 10 bounties on me (free defends so I don't mind...just the thought that counts).

Anyway, I'll leave it up to you guys that have fought tooth and nail and given up millions of energy to earn your respect to show CatsClaw "thanks" and to express your opinions on "peaceful" factions.

RMT hurting the game, right? Or could it help? · · 1 like

What about trading DP's for BJ's? Still "stimulating" the purchase of DP's? Hmm, might be a grey'ish area though. Maybe a messy issue. Probably should add this one to the official rules of banned RL transactions.

I'd appreciate it if someone that is 2500+ days old with networth under $4B and only 10 xanax taken, does not call my friend a moron.

If you mistook my post for indicating that I think it is unfair for factions to have powerful bonuses, you are incorrect. I do not think peaceful factions should have much of anything in the way of faction bonuses, except maybe a permanently reserved private room at the hospital.

If you checked my personal stats for respect gained (70k+ respect and 88th overall for *ALL* players in Torn and only 4th or 5th in my faction), you'd have realized I do not believe in peaceful factions.

My point is that having factions sizes of 100 with the new upgrade system greatly rewards large factions (high energy training, crime offenses, bust counts, etc). This has created a concentration effect in which any player that wants to stay competitive has to gravitate towards the top factions. The top factions have created / expanded families and they have fake wars within / outside the family to generate massive respect bonuses. Their large size makes those fake wars even more rewarding (high hit counts fast)

My faction, formerly of only 25 or so members (we have expanded some) USED to be one of the top factions by respect gained and upgrades available. We have the highest respect gained per faction member in Torn, and I believe that is even including some of our members that are fedded and actually dead IRL.

One thing I will agree with, is that I do not like that pretty much all wars are 2500 respect wars these days. Weak factions shouldn't have to put up with that much grief and the minimum win bonus should be increased so that it is more rewarding to make those hits to win the war.

The max faction size should be 50. High enough to have an advantage, but no so high that small / medium factions cannot compete by being more active or smarter/more efficient.

What did the stock market update do? · · 1 like

By the way, I am not interested in more stock market changes....Almost every change in this game makes Torn more bland.

I worked hard and focused on economic development so that I could afford to take 3x xanax per day when I hit the rehab effectiveness cap. Then addiction reduction increased to about 1 xanax per day if you had a decent level of Hermetic (wasn't too common outside of HoF)....Then the new Faction Upgrade system + easy Territory respect made it pretty easy for anyone to get high level Hermetic.

If you newbies want to nerf oldies that have gotten where they are by hard-work, you might want to check your entitlement at the door. When I started building my "fortune", GTA1's were a great source of money, slutting was a ban-able offense, there was no flower running, and buying a Mansion meant that you had arrived. The reason life is so easy for newbies these days is because us oldies have the cash to spend $10's of millions buying stuff from newbies. Nerf our income and we'll find some less ideal ways to offset......but you'll nerf your income even more.

What did the stock market update do? · · 4 likes

It does seem like the NPC buyback was nerfed. On the last WLT run-up, it was going up for days (maybe even a week straight) and there were very little buy-backs. It looks like that is happening again. Supposedly there is/was a daily buyback limit, but in that last run-up I saw 0 shares bought back over the course of a 24 hour period.

If the NPC is going to be so conservative about buybacks, it needs to be a bit more conservative about issuing stocks....maybe half as many shares (so about 600M shares) and make it half as often...every dip should not be guaranteeing 1.2B shares being issued within a few hours of stocks hitting 0 shares available.

For the record, I don't mind being patient (this is required for stock investing). I'm not upset at the stock NPC because it didn't buy back *MY* shares. I'm upset because it didn't buy back enough of *anybody's* shares. If it buys back enough shares, but not mine, I can so "oh well, maybe next time". If it buys little or nothing back, I have to say "how long is my money going to be tied up in this stock, 6 months?"
