The grocery store analogy sucks. Here is one that is better. Saw a post on Facebook marketplace selling some clothes. The clothes look good, perhaps some are my size. So I message the person and tell them that I am interested in the clothes and the price they are selling them for is awesome. However, I need to try the clothes on first and because of co-vid we can't do that in stores. Bring them to my house I will try them on while you wait. Once the person is there I take the clothes into my home and say oh well they are mine now I have them. They were stupid for putting them in my hand before I paid the agreed-upon price.

Alright even if this is the situation there is still a difference. IF I sent you right now pics of my boobs and you shared them with all of your Torn buddies and other internet buddies. How is that going to affect my real life? Those here will not see it.No one in my real life will be harmed.
However, if I send you my personal information ie" real name, address, and phone number and the like. Then it starts being used against me as blackmail or what have you. Then it is shared online. What's to say someone won\t come by my house, or send something in the mail. What if one of these things are obscene, gross, or harmful and my children or someone else checks the mail. What if some crazy person decides to go to my house or work and physically harm or kill me or my spouse or children based on the game. There have been cases of this in the past.
Again sending nude pictures to someone and them sharing it is in no way the same as sharing contact info. Only one of these can have real-life serious damning consequences. I can not believe anyone would compare the two or even justify it. Even if the guy were the biggest jerk in the world

Wow, this is crazy. I know some of you said ED might deserve it or it might be the same as him sharing nude pictures people have sent him. There is a difference The person sharing their nude pictures WILLINGLY decided to send naked pictures of themselves to someone they met online, someone they do not know in real life, or have not known for a long time and have no personal connection with. Even in the real world, you should not send nudes to your husband/boyfriend or friends. Fights can happen that lead to it being shared. hacking or someone losing their device.
However, having someone get or look up your information and then threaten to share that information based upon game stuff is over the line. If someone was threating to share your information you would want that person gone. People should not have to worry that playing a game, being a jerk in that game, having their members be jerks, not doing what others say (blackmail), will lead to real-life consequences.
