Two Halloweens ago we got loads of trick or treaters come to our house, as I live in quite a residential area. The following year she prepared big time; loads of sweets (top branded ones at that, no cheap shiz), decorations...even dressed up herself. The clock struck 7. So she waited for the trick or treaters to come and ask for some treats.....but none came! inconsiderate fools! She was quite upset because she put so much effort in (but not emotionally distort...that would be weird).
An hour past and still no one came. But then she saw some kids with their parents and she jumped to action and went running to the door.
I was busy eating the treats that she planned to give give out to trick or treaters (that didn't come). I was wondering what she was doing, because the door bell hadn't rang and the group that we saw were happily walking past our house.
Next thing I know, she is calling out to the group of trick or treaters asking them to come get some candy from her! Now that's weird indeed. It is dark and a strange lady dressed up is desperately trying to get people to come get chocolate from her. The groups parents responded by urging their kids to move along more quickly and shouting "Thank you...but we are finished now". And they disappeared into the darkness.
Weird as it was i thought that would be the end of it. My mum would now be known as the crazy lady down the road, and people would steer clear of our house.
9 o'clock. We get a knock on the door. My mum is filled with joy and again runs to the door, candy in hand. FYI I am now eating dinner. No trick or treaters again, but the police!
mum - "bit old to be trick or treating aren't you" (good one mum) Police "we are not here for candy. We received a complaint about a women beckoning kids to her house" (not exact words...but near enough) mum - realizing what she had done and what they thought she was trying to do. "oh, sorry that was my mother...she thought they were trampling our garden" -My grandmother looks bewildered" (which actually made her look crazy...which helped the police believe my mum's story)
And so the police men left, with a handful of chocolate, and my mum was off the hook, and i now hate the police force for taking a lot of my chocolate!
