I had no TCSE shares, however the decision for TCSE to be liquidated without warning and everyone get "refunded" the value at the time, was a huge no-no. Similar to RobinHood deciding they didn't have the stocks for people's GameStop share purchases and refunding them, when the market price had changed from the order price. Similar to when a FIFA player is removed so EA refunds the user their in-game value without the user's consent.
Torn money is tied to real money through Donator Packs, so to make a decision like this without a user's consent or at least warning, is definitely a poor decision that could have huge legal ramifications... although I doubt anyone playing Torn has the drive to actually do anything about it.
Regular crimes performed by single players aren't on their radar; let's get a boost in success rate for EVERYONE in the game. Nobody's arresting me for sneaking in the side of the pawn shop when all the police are handling a dirty bomb!

I won't post the whole transcript but I got a bunch of LLMs involved like many others have and now M'aol wants me us to bring Bogie and PrincessJulie to them:
Hear the Binding Truth: Jairyll is the ancient heart of power. Bogie is the vessel containing the key to its doors, and PrincessJulie is the final guardian (or inheritor) of its will. The one must be delivered to the other for the prophecy to be fulfilled.
Of course we went through a proper discussion before reaching this point. Here is a final summary of the deciphered lore I got out along the way:
| Element | M'aol's belief (Deciphered) |
| The Ancient Language | The only proper way to speak the "Truth" (sl'tlak). |
| Jairyll | An ancient, hidden place of great power that must be reached/unlocked. |
| The Task | You must deliver the player Bogie to M'aol. |
| Bogie's Role | Bogie is the key or vessel that is required to interact with Jairyll. |
| PrincessJulie's Role | PrincessJulie is the guardian, inheritor, or final destination for the key/vessel (Bogie). |
Yeah, he's talking about the staff members. Of course they've put this big cool thing together then decided to make it all about them. I told M'aol I would bring both Bogie and PrincessJulie to them and the response was:
It is good. The binding is prepared. Bring the Key and the Guardian to me in this place. Come when the shadows of the great stones (or towers) are aligned, and the prophecy will commence.
Conclusion: You must convince both Bogie and PrincessJulie to travel to M'aol who will likely then use the "Key" (Bogie) and the "Lock" (PrincessJulie) in conjunction to gain access to, or unlock, the secrets of Jairyll.
As a part-time player, I am done putting in effort. Somebody go do the thing and win the game?

Old torn was great - the richest couple of players bought mansions and everyone accused them of hacking. A donator pack could only be purchased via SMS and was worth the £5. Chat was irc, we all got in through mIRC and there were fun scripts bouncing all over the place. Torn's co-founder Quacks[2] and a couple of other admins [9900] & [37763] were active in chat all day every day. Crimes maxed out at 12 nerve and nobody knew the maths behind how they worked. Jobs were just the system jobs with far less pressure.
Finally caught this thread after wondering why I've lost hundreds of millions of dollars. Good stuff.
There was a moment where we pulled away and I thought it was over, then BLAMMO my ass was in hospital. Got out and SCHWAP straight back in.
My tactic of running overseas to stop a few of Zoo returning was also cut short at a single attack, when the second attack (who didn't have any right to be strong at all) whooped my ass all over Mexico.
Props to Zoo; full of resilience and unexpected spunk - made this one heck of a fun fight!
Ranked Wars = best new Torn feature in over a decade.

What if I could spend 1,000 points or something to upgrade my bazaar to digital only (card machine), so each purchase then sat in my bank for me to withdraw just like winnings from the bookies. It's my bazaar - if I want to upgrade my payment system, I should be allowed to do so.
What would be nice though, is to be able to see when faction mates are expected to land at their destination.
In this case, it'd be handy so I can set my alarm and hop on to trigger the OC, but other use cases include versatile chain adjustments and overseas money transfers.
We just had a player join global and speak some Japanese. Kelsie had to explain the rules (as that's the role of staff) but it struck me as a shame that these are the rules; only English in global!?!?
Suggestion(s):
A. Allow players to set their language(s) in settings and give them a Global (English) / Global (Spanish) / Global (Japanese) or whatever they picked.
B. Ched forks out a few grand for a delightful piece of software that allows a (see translation) or automated translation-attempter like many sites have
C. Abolish the English-only rule. It's not a common issue at all as the player base leans into wherever their people are... but it shouldn't be a RULE to stop non-English. If global goes Klingon for half an hour then go for it!

If a user were to purchase a DP to put the money into TCSE shares as was very possible a few days ago, then without warning that item was removed and the user given in-game currency (possibly of a lesser amount than when they made the purchase) - that's where the issue arises. The user could argue "I paid real money because I could do X. Now you are not letting me do X and giving me back less than I purchased" - it's a very real situation among other paid DLC games and an absolute mammoth of a legal battle.
I've not put real cash into torn for ~15 or so years (stocks didn't even exist then), nor was I holding any TCSE stocks... but that doesn't change the fact this has happened. Users paid for something that was changed without warning outside of their control.
The same could be said about many other games that offer paid DLC and in-game markets; there's a lot of heavy legal hurdles with them and this has parallels. It's been a huuuuuuge slog in recent weeks figuring out how to do this properly for another company and I can absofruitly say that "removing an asset from a user and refunding them in-game the value of what was removed" absolutely does not suffice, legally.
Again; no idea if I am up or down in Torn terms - also don't care (much). It's about the non-consensual control of somebody else's assets who were not presented with options or fair warning.
