I think the idea is cool, but I'm not sure if time gating is the right way to go about it. In my case, I created my account ages ago and just played around for a week before life got busy and I dropped it pretty quickly.

Then, I came back years later as a total newbie. I know my situation is a bit extreme, but I can totally see new players signing up and then not returning for a few days or even weeks before diving in fully. Maybe it would make more sense to link it to the "Time Played" stat instead, it'd obviously need some balancing, but I think it'd be a more accurate representation.

Worth a shot.

Whilst I would like more responses with reasons on why they won't implement some highly voted suggestions. I am glad that they aren't swaying the other way and just implementing anything that does get a large number of votes.

Any feature regardless of source (players, mods, developers, or even Chedburn himself) needs to be thought about, anything added to Torn even small changes adds a potential complications with every other feature implemented so they do need to be very choosy, otherwise you end up with a platform whereby a user can do anything, but it's a buggy mess with full of needless buttons, switches, and sliders that add no value.

It'd be good to have some variance and not just have Xanax being the king. I'm hoping new drugs will come with the rework they were talking about with regards to energy and nerve rates.
