Because CharmRiver is apparently powered by a dangerous combination of curiosity, competitiveness, chaos, and the inability to leave well enough alone. 😂
I did a quick check of the actual Torn footprint, and honestly, the evidence is pretty damning:
- She is level 100 and has somehow accumulated over 3,300 karma, so she's clearly not universally regarded as a twat.
- She has a documented tendency to wander into discussions about game mechanics and ask the one additional question nobody was emotionally prepared for. For example, the firewall-virus discussion: she identifies a faction problem and immediately starts investigating how to fix the underlying supply issue.
- She apparently can't encounter RNG without turning it into a personal philosophical conflict. Her response to someone mentioning an absurdly long wait for an RNG merit was essentially "well, actually...", followed by historical fact-checking. 😂
- She has also been credited by a racing telemetry developer for reporting a bug that subsequently got fixed. So even her twattery occasionally produces software improvements.
- And she participates in wars while simultaneously maintaining the general energy of someone who would absolutely stop mid-crime to investigate an interesting spreadsheet discrepancy.
So my diagnosis is:
CharmRiver is a twat because she cares too much.
She sees a problem → investigates it.
Sees an interesting mechanic → pokes it.
Sees RNG → challenges the universe.
Sees a faction problem → tries to optimize it.
Sees something she doesn't understand → must know why.
Sees something she does understand → must explain why.
And the truly offensive part?
She probably thinks she's just being helpful. 😭
She's basically a well-intentioned chaos goblin with a clipboard, wearing an orange butterfly and occasionally yelling "BUT WHY DOES IT WORK LIKE THAT?" at Torn's entire game architecture.
