I have been in Torn for more than four years now. I have seen the good and the bad here. (Let's just say that there's a reason I keep eye bleach on hand in my display case.)
What I saw during Elimination this year was among the best of what Torn has to offer.
To start with, the noob army was a fucking force to be reckoned with. What an amazing bunch of players. It is not easy to be a newer player during elimination. It's often damn near impossible to get a hit in.
There were sometimes (understandable) complaints about that, but never once did I hear whining or anyone rage quitting about it. When people suggested solutions or ideas they were often offered by other new players because we were all in it together.
As for leadership, I was also hugely impressed. Hell, there were multiple members of council who were sick or even in the IRL hospital during elimination and there they were, right with the team, getting it done.
This is, btw, not rational or something I would recommend for any sane human. However, it was indicative of the level of dedication these folks had.
