How do Easter eggs spawn during the Easter event, and what can they be traded for?

Eggs spawn randomly on pages during the 6–12 April event and go to your inventory when clicked.[1][2] Since 2023 they are not traded in. Eating one gives an effect, such as +500 energy for Green, and adds six hours to Booster Cooldown.[3]

How eggs spawn

  • Eggs spawn randomly on pages during the event and are added to inventory when clicked. Several can spawn on one page.[2]
  • Spawn rates differ by colour: Green, Red and Yellow are most common, then White, then Black and Blue, then Brown and Purple. Gold is rarest.[2]
  • Spawn is no longer based on player activity, so all players get roughly the same number of eggs.[2]
  • Eggs stop spawning in the final 24 hours so players can look for missed ones. Unfound eggs do not despawn and roll over to next year on different pages.[2]
  • The event runs from noon TCT on 6 April to noon TCT on 12 April.[1]
  • Gold can also drop as loot from the Easter Bunny[17], but not from city finds.[4]

What eggs are used for now

Since the 2023 update, eggs are not traded in. Clicking gives no benefit; eating an egg from inventory gives a boost.[1] Eggs are untradeable between players, do not expire, and can be used at any time, even outside the event.[1][3]

Each egg eaten adds six hours to Booster Cooldown.[3] Orange and Pink did not appear in 2023, and the wiki says their return is unknown.[3]

Before 2023

Through the 2022 hunt, a full set of coloured eggs could be exchanged for a Gold Egg, 20 points and the Good Friday honor. Extra exchanges gave only a Gold Egg and 20 points.[5][6] Eggs then gave their bonus when found, such as Green +50 energy and Red +10 nerve, plus 30 minutes of booster cooldown.[5] On 23 March 2023, eggs with the old effect were converted to Chocolate Eggs.[6]

The 2015 announcement described clicking as giving an instant unique reward per egg.[7] The 2023 wiki says clicking now gives no benefit.[1]
