Level requirements
What TornLife's research has established about Level requirements, and the questions players asked about it.
What TornLife has verified
- Experience comes from fighting, gym training, crimes and smaller other sources. The fastest levelling XP is from attacking and leaving targets of your level or higher. When enough XP is earned, the player clicks an upgrade link to level up. Mugging or hospitalising gives less XP than leaving. (players' tests; New Player Missions › New to Torn? › Start your Journey here! › Well on your wa…, )
- Levelling gets slower after the early levels. Players find level 3 harder than levels 1-2. The wiki says levelling is much slower than in most games. Per-level XP is invisible except via the China fortune teller, and no requirement table appears in these sources. (player reports; Down To Details › Level and Ranks, )
- Levels are gained through experience with no visible bar. The wiki says it is thought almost everything counts, but only some sources are known. When enough XP is earned an Upgrade link appears beside the level. (documented; Level and Ranks › Details, )
- Progress toward the next level can be checked by paying $75,000 at the Fortune Teller in China or by working in a 7* Game Shop. (documented; Level and Ranks › Details, )
- Wiki lists downsides: less total life, no Anonymous or Duke Missions until level 5, no Travel until level 15, and some Awards unavailable. (documented; Level holding › Downsides to level holding / History, )
