I know that the lightning bolts display if taking drugs or not logging on but what does the Dollar$ amount underneath mean and why does mine always say Unknown?

Seriously though, you work on a rig like me and only the sales people show value.
It means how much you actually earn for the company (rough estimate though, so if you add them all up, you should get an amount around the income of that day)
Some people don't really 'earn' anything by selling as they're doing advertisements or training or something
However you need a suitable person working in a specific position to see those results and people who just joined won't have a value yet, as they haven't done anything yet.
