nope, not really.
there is a merit for reaching 1000 karma,
but other then that its just a cosmetic icon that shows how many times you get a positive rating in the forum ;)

First I've heard of this - and there isn't any honour for karma shown on the Awards page afaict.

Maybe someone with 1000 karma would be kind enough to post, as i too have not heard of this award.
Edit: I have it on good authority you do get a merit for 1000 karma.
