Do we get job stats(man, end, int) based on our efficiency?
if yes which job gives best stats for newbs
manic [1554958]

You get stats based on the job you have.

Plus additional stats giving to you by the director (should he train you) if happen to be in a 'non-generic' Torn job (ie army, school, grocery etc).

Efficiency (from what I understand) is linkage to drug usage.

As for best stat for best job? Depends what you want to do...

Hades [1728299]
No. Its depends on what rank you hold in your job. Your efficiency does not effect the amount you gain.

I have been corrected.

HairyVertigo: You currently work as a Roughneck at Pension Fund - Hiring which is owned by Templar. You are paid $x every day! You also receive a maximum of 65 manual, 33 endurance and 0 intelligence every day based on your efficiency.

Contrary to what the other people said, yes, your stat gain does depend on your efficiency, which has recently been changed with RESPO. However, I have no idea by how much really/

You should probably look for jobs at companies at the cheaper end which don't require very high stats.

Yes, it does depend on your efficiency, although I have no idea by how much.

Interesting...

A textual 'bug' maybe?

It's a contradiction to say you receive a static figure(s) of 65:33:0 each day based on a another figure (efficiency) which can vary greatly very quickly.

Assuming those figures are indeed static!
Obviously these figures MUSTN'T be static, per what Blexi has stated. Which is fair I guess with changes seen with Respo.

I would also think efficiency is a function of a few things such as:

working stats vs stat requirements. ex, someone with 1k working stats cannot be anywhere near efficient if their job is asking for 10s of ks of stats.

happy: someone in a shack training 40x at the gym is going to lose most of their happy. having a low % of happy reflects in efficiency. if you're living in a PI and have 100 less happy than max, you won't see it in efficiency, but in a cheaper property its visible.

companies having "manager" roles, as well as education such as the passive increase to employees working stats, can help prevent the efficiency of employees from plummeting downward, but they aren't cure-alls.

easy ways to test this would be tracking working stats before/after the daily paycheck and ws increase.
i dont know if the increases are in discrete steps (ex: 1 star = x stats, 2 star = y stats, etc) or if it can vary by a few points

I thought so,as as you know i am a new player and have technically zero stats.I thought i would gain stats fast and joined a n amusement park as inspector( 35 endurance and 70 intelligence every day) but after one day my stats only increased by a tiny amount.Thats why i had the doubt.

Yes, as you can see here:
http://www.torn.com/joblist.php#/p=corp&ID=31

The stat requirement for amusement park is MUCH higher than for example a pub or firework stand. Personally, I would recommend Pub, as it also gives you free energy :)
See here for the details on pub:
http://www.torn.com/joblist.php#/p=corp&ID=25
And firework stand:
http://www.torn.com/joblist.php#/p=corp&ID=19

Lastly, what LimitBreakr said is very good. Try not to be at low happiness compared to your max and work in a job that has relatively low working stat requirement for a start. Then slowly work up the ranks to get gradually more gains per day.

Great advice for a newer players trying to optimize early on.

5* restaurants and pubs may be the *perfect* job; the working stat requirements are low, and if you can work out a deal to get trained 5x by the director your working stats will skyrocket and youll eventually be getting the gains listed on the info page

the special "job points for energy" is tremendously helpful, as it will help newer players move through unlocking the gyms even faster! they aren't as flexible as tradeable cans, but they help new players achieve something crucial: more dots, sooner!

finally, if those reasons aren't enough, the added damage to melee weapons contains a strong suggestion: you're young, and in all likelihood poor, USE MELEE so you don't have to spend money on ammo

but if players can't find a restaurant job, there actually exist plenty of 5* companies that players use as banks. a quick search can find companies with no employees. these are great targets for newer players, as there will be no competition for the trains and the director wont be losing any money if you pay for trains. the director might actually be happy to help a younger and newer player!

Or you could camp the Education starter job and use job points on working stats as well as gaining points in all 3 working stats, which I highly recommend if you have other ways of making money.

That's only if you really want to boost up your working stats. The only reason really to have good working stats is to gain a somewhat decent income eventually.

I wouldn't recommend joining the education job for newbs, since it doesn't give any other benefit except working stats and even then, it'll take a very long time until you have good enough working stats to be earning more than 500k/day which is not much nowadays.

As Limitbreakr said, job points for energy is an extremely good perk, as it can help you move up to higher gyms or mean more energy for attacking to level up more quickly.

Battle stats and level 15 are much more important early on than working stats :)

The change happened before respo and the difference in working stat gain when you are on 1-star effectiveness compared to 5-star effectiveness was only a few stats at most per day last time I checked (ie. when going down to 1 star after OD'ing pre-RESPO).

I haven't been able to check if that is still the case after the most recent company update (where the effect of happiness on efficiency was removed) as it's now nearly impossible for me to drop below 4 stars in my current job with my current rehab cycles (I'm still at 5 stars even with being 9 xanax and 2 vico into my 12 xanax / 4 vico rehab cycle).

But working your way up to principal also cuts the amount of time you have to spend in education. Ideally you should have maximum rank in all of the benefit providing starter jobs before ever joining a company.
  • Job:+ Ability to Revive (Medical)
  • Job: 10% Education Time (Education)
  • Job:+ 10% Crime Success (Law)
The requirements for each are kind of basic, but that's the point.

Medical Requirements: 500 INT
Top Rank Medical Requirements: 3k MAN, 10k INT, 4k END
Top Rank Medical Stat Gains: 20 MAN, 40 INT, 25 END
Top Rank Medical Bonus: Revive someone for 75 energy (Can be sold for money)

Education Requirements: 500 INT
Top Rank Education Requirements: 1.5k MAN, 5k INT, 1.5k END
Top Rank Education Stat Gains: 30 MAN, 40 INT, 30 END
Top Rank Education Bonus: -10% reduction of Education Time
BONUS: Trade 10 job points for 100 in a working stat of your choice. Max rank gains 7 points a day.

Law Requirements: 1.5k MAN, 1.5k INT, 2k END
Top Rank Law Requirements: 6k MAN, 9k INT, 15k END
Top Rank Law Stat Gains: 30 MAN, 33 INT, 45 END
Top Rank Law Bonus: +10% Crime Success Rate

Going through each one of these careers will unlock permanent bonuses for your character which just so happen to be more important than a few million bucks in cash that you can quite frankly earn flying flowers anyway.

You are advocating giving that up for 45 primary/25 secondary stat gains on the hope that some director takes pity on them and trains them.

85 gain Medical
100 gain Education, before job special (job special worth 70 stats a day, bringing total up to 170 a day)
108 gain Law

VS

72 gain trainer/pub
at most 68 gain for any other position

Each train gives +50 primary and +25 secondary
1 train a day + trainer position = 147 gain a day, less overall than education
Would require 2 trains a day to surpass 170 potential gains a day.

Most directors want to be paid to train a specific person more than others, seriously draining cash from new players that they could be spending to upgrade their properties instead.

Please tell me how 50k a day is worth sacrificing long term gains.

Blexi [1458703]

It depends on the focus really. You have the option to get your working stats up more quickly in sacrifice of energy as job points.

15 energy per day is worth a lot more than 50k and can help out a lot in training/leveling up. But that's only if you value energy/battle stats as highly as I do. (As an extreme example, I take cans every day, 15e ~ 800k for me.)

I am merely giving my recommendation to focus on battle stats/energy rather than working stats alone. I take the point that education job give you -10% time in education which is certainly a good special. I'd personally prefer getting the 3k+ energy which you could get in the meantime (~200 days?). Again only a matter of opinion.

But to answer OP's question: Go for basic starter jobs, in particular education job, if you want to boost up your working stats fast, as tn5421 said. If you want to get decent, but not maximal gains in working stats while also getting (valuable) energy, go for pub.
maledict [1677916]

TLDR: Skip crappy torn city jobs until you have enough work stats to unlock the VERY LAST RANK of whatever job you want. Until then, join a company at level 3 with highest base working stat gain available to you and stay there till you complete the above. After that set a goal to Join a real company.

@ tn5421 [276835]

But working your way up to principal also cuts the amount of time you have to spend in education. Ideally you should have maximum rank in all of the benefit providing starter jobs before ever joining a company.

I disagree because:
  • Job:+ Ability to Revive (Medical) Only good in a faction with max perks to support it also severely limits your play-style(i.e. Battle Stats), it is also easier to make money slutting as the energy to $ ratio is nearly identical for a new player + more merits invloved
  • Job: 10% Education Time (Education) Only really good to unlock Sports Science Bachelors even then its probably faster to just join a Fitness Center from level 3
  • Job:+ 10% Crime Success (Law) +crime bonuses are only really great for high failure crimes / OC's pretty much useless for regular leveling crimes if you have an enhancer.
You are overlooking the Huge fact that Torn City Jobs have a horrible horrible stat gain until you reach the last position, which by the way takes time, and also job points when compared to player run Companies.

If you happen to plan it out perfectly and have the required working stats to unlock each rank it still takes 5 days per rank or:
45 Days Army
35 Days Medical
35 Days Education (105 Job Points)
30 Days Law

There also the added fact that when you add up total work stat gain it skews the value of a Jobs vs Companies because the whole point of raising working stats is to get INTO a company. But wait companies only care about TWO working stats. A director will only care about your highest Primary and Secondary based upon the position you want. Your third working stat mind as well be zero since all positions require only 2 of the three working stats and your off stat will play no factor.

If you want to argue being able to fill any position....well that's a fairy tale of literally putting in years of effort just for three 100k+ working stats, which isn't even as good as being 200k/100k split for reasons written above.

In a Company, which you can join at level 3 (which you'll get almost by finishing all the starter missions) you gain at the very minimum 20+Primary and 15+ secondary without any loss of job points, and in any position.

There are a lot of companies for example fitness companies that do not even care about your workstats and will hire and train you on a rotation of 1 train roughly 1.5 weeks based on the # of employees/stars. At a fitness center the lowest passive stat gain will be closer to 49 Primary & 25 Secondary. In a company like this you'll gain pretty close to what a Education based player receives after ALSO spending their points on the the job special, but for free with your own job points to spend and more secondary stat gain on average.

The catch is that you need to correctly value whether or not the job points out weight the value of staying in a crappy city job for x amount of time for your own circumstances.

Realistically the average player is looking at these figures over time for a Primary/Secondary split through passive gain (no trains):

40k Primary as Principal rank in Education @ 70+40 for int gain per day (so using job special on int)= 364 days

40k/30k split @ 30/day Primary passive gain = 1333 days with 1 train every 1.5 days (which is the avg for most companies of a medium size) about 1150 days

100k/50k split @ 50 stat Primary passive gain = 2000 days

The only real upside to being in a torn city job is the fact that you can be inactive/no-rehab (but some companies also don't care about that too). I feel that time cost of using Education to get completely free trains is too much considering paying for trains is still pretty cheap/easy and probably in the long run will save you more time/money than staying in Education.

Saying that upgrading properties which I assume to be really just saying that you want more happiness? is weak since once a player can afford to travel at 15, you easily make enough to rent a PI with more than adequate happiness through flower running, which amusingly enough you mention yourself.

If you want to argue that money could be better spent on things other than working stats then sure of course a player will see a faster return on their money investing in the bank, through battle stats, stocks ect. But really less than a million a day can buy you boost your work stat gain a lot, which was the whole point of this thread in the first place.

For example I get 341 Primary & 171 Secondary stats every day which will let me reach my goal in approximately 293 days versus if I did it through Education would take over 900 days with no bonus and less secondary stat growth. I also get to leverage Job Points for approximately 20k worth of stat gain in any capped stat on top of that.

Is it worth it? Yeah for me it is. (http://imgur.com/PnYvLOu)

Please don't forget that you don't actually get the maximum stat gain when your working stats are much lower than the required one. Otherwise I do agree with points. Company job specials are valued much higher than basic job specials.
