Haven't touched my PS3 for a couple o years, by chance read a snippet about a game called 'No Mans Sky'....PS4 will be purchased, this game has caught my imagination...i miss elite :) ...all about the MATHS...very clever!

yeah i saw the E3 and it looks very promising, i just cant wait for its release!!! Rumour has it is coming to PC too...

The game is promising but there have been games like this in the past that failed miserably so I'm a little skeptical of it.

This is only the first one with some decent financial backing but even that doesn't mean quality considering how many bad games even EA has released xD

most of games like this fails because they are too ambitious, and they have too many details and interactions... That's why the most successful or the most sold games focus on a linear story and a limited range of possibilities... fulfill all your expectations, they are short and leave you (the customer) hanging till the next release which is more of the same.

More or less as you said most games of this type are either cookie cutter linear games or they try for some originality through making them into sandbox procedurally generated worlds.

From my experience games that gear more towards sandbox style aren't nearly as impressive but you will usually get more fun out of those especially when they're on PC where modding extends the life of the game.
