I think it would be good if on the NickServ bot on IRC there is a "protect" feature so that if a given person connecting on someone else's registered nick doesn't identify to NickServ or match the given mask for that nick that they receive the /kill command from NickServ.

I think it would be good if on the NickServ bot on IRC there is a "protect" feature so that if a given person connecting on someone else's registered nick doesn't identify to NickServ or match the given mask for that nick that they receive the /kill command from NickServ.
This already exists.
First register your name
/ns register password email
Then set the protection /ns set kill on
By default anyone who doesn't identify on that name within 60 seconds automatically gets their name changed to something else (random guestX name) and a protection service is added to the name they tried to claim for 60 seconds (This is so that they cannot just immediately change back to that name), that protection service disappears after 60 seconds, if you're impatient though you can do /ns release password (if it's YOUR nick obviously)
As said, 60 seconds before identifying is the default to change, but if you want to make it 20 seconds you can do /ns set kill quick
It doesn't kill the name, but it's just as good. If they fail to identify too many times though they WILL get killed off the server.
this is good.. should be made more aware to people. i had no idea about this until i got banned.
i got f**ked over because someone pretending to be me on irc.
now i have this feature it shouldnt happen again.
