Just wondering what triggers the awards?

I'm showing that I've successfully achieved a networth of 1m, yet I have 700m in the bank?

Just wondering what specifically constitutes networth?

Many thanks in anticipation!

Money gained from crimes, and items sold from your inventory or to the shops.

Edit: Illusionist was faster with the answer, with a catchy image and all xD

Even so, I've accumulated well over 1m in sales and have the assets banked (700m).

Why have I only triggered the apprentice award?
Yaz [1575994]

Your answer is up there. Twice!

all the money you have in bank and/or assets do not count towards the networth award.
Yaz [1575994]

Nope, actually that's the only thing missing from the list on the tcbasic site.

Neither buying nor selling properties back to the game doesn't contribute to networth either.

Buying anything won't count towards your networth, it's basically money gained from crimes and items you sell to the system (not to other players via item market, bazaar, trade etc)

With regard to Illusionist's "p.s." above about not knowing where your networth amount currently is.
In your "Awards>Medals>awards you are about to unlock", the next networth medal "may" be listed in the ten shown with a percentage figure for your progress to gaining it. Of course if you are nowhere near to achieving the next award chances are it will not be listed in your "10 nearest to being awarded".
For example mine says I am 68% towards the 50 million networth award, so from that I can calculate that I need...... to go find a calculator to work it out :)

As mentioned above you're on your own when it comes to keeping track of networth after getting the mogul medal, what I do is make sure I sell items back in regular sized blocks (ie. for me I do 250 mil blocks as it's a nice easy number to keep track of when selling back flamers).

Thanks for that, very informative.
So in a way, your net worth title is kind of the level your crime bar is at. That link mentioned how to advance networth, one of th main ways is money gained from crimes....?

Money gained from crimes does count towards it, but that's normally a fairly low percentage since crimes usually pay a very low amount.

To really go after these merits, most people buy items that can be resold for a decent percentage of what they paid. Flamethrowers I think are the most common.

You can buy a batch of flamethrowers and then sell them to Big Al's Gun Shop in Torn City. They sell for $3M, and Big Al will pay 2.5M for them. That raises your networth by 2.5M (the money you were paid) at a cost of $500k. And of course, time, since you have to go get them. There are some people (Kinzove, for instance) that run these in bulk, since going and buying large numbers of them can be very time consuming. You'll pay a little more, but you can spend your time and energy doing other things instead of flying back and forth to Argentina hoping to pick up flamethrowers.

If you haven't sold anything to one of the NPC shops (Big Als, BitsNBobs, etc), then your only networth is probably from crimes. And all your crimes together probably don't total $1M. Income from crimes is so low, I think you can pretty much ignore that part.

But starting at $0 Networth, reaching $50M networth will net you five merits. Doing that with flamethrowers, you would only need to sell 20. (20 * 2.5M = 50M) Buying 20 flamethrowers in Argentina will cost you $60M, and when you sell them to BitsNBobs, you'll get $50M of that back. 5 merit points for 10M and one trip to Argentina sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

After that, they are harder to get, but the same principle applies. For those that are willing to spend a bit more money, you can contact Kinzove and buy them in batches, so you don't have to do all the flying yourself. That way, you can spend your time doing other things, fly to other places to make money, stay home, or whatever you prefer.

Buying points doesn't have any merit points, but there is a merit (Called Wholesaler) for selling 1000 points. And you can pick that up fairly easy by simply buying points and reselling them. You can even make a profit doing it. Be careful about selling a lot of points at once. You wouldn't be the first person to sell a bunch of points and get mugged seconds after they sell. You can buy 50 or 100 points, then sell them, then buy 50 or 100 more, then sell those, and greatly reduce your risk. And you can still sell 1000 fairly fast that way. (It doesn't need to be one sale, just cumulative points that you've sold.)

The points for networth show up as soon as you reach that point. At least, they do if you reach that point by selling flamers they do.

I asked this question recently. Specifically about selling from my items list but not through my bazaar, and more specifically if it was the 3% charge that goes to the game/city that contributes to my networth of it is the entire vlaue of the item sold.

The responses I got were that neither counted.

Wish someone would clarify this one way or another.
