i just sent in an application to join a faction but instead of saying "You sent in your application...", this happened:

That should be fine for now. After you applied you were accepted, so that works, but it should say "Your application has been sent" or similar rather than that weird blank thingy.
Does it happen every time when you send an application? Have you tried to send other applications? Thank you.
yes, i have gone to settings and withdrew the application and sent in the application again.
however, i haven't tried applying using a different web browser or to a different faction
