So I wanna take a slight detour for a second here. I believe this still comes under 'Honour' so I'm gonna put it here instead of starting a new thread.

Buy n muggs.
This seems to be rife throughout TC.
Those of you that don't know (or havnt experienced it). It's when someone purchases from your Bazaar then they instantly mugg you for some of their cash back.
Obviously this only happens to noobs (i.e. Myself) and users with low battle stats. and always on large scales/sales.
Its a very under-handed tactic, but a fact of TC life. (There is a partial counter measure for it too)
I understand that there is no honour amongst thieves. But when you gets mugged by little old ladies and such you have to begin to wonder. Lols
When it happens I can't help but mentally (heh heh. I said mental Lols) picture a customer walking into a store. Purchasing something. Wandering outside to don a balaclava. Then returning to rob the owner. XD

There is very little honour in this game unfortunately.

It is very unfortunate that the op cant get his point across very well because english isnt his first language.

There are too many backstabbing 2 faced people who play this game.

People desperate for their casino fix will do anything, cheat, beg, scam, whine etc.

If i was to make a mega faction with all the honourable people i have encountered in this game and still play it would have less than 20 people in it.

A lot of nice people quit because they dont like the nerd fest which this game has become.

Every multi and his dog is begging and scamming and whining and bleating in this game now and this is very offputting to normal people.

This is the new noob haven habbo hotel torn ched is changing it into dun

unfortunately we either adapt n play or grow bored n gripe about it
dunmugmeh [538353]

I ignore it and whine about it on occasion.

[ignore] on the mailbox is good it filters out the multi begging spam.

Good people gravitate to each other in this game eventually.

I beg to differ that JB has no honor... This is a guy who was so loyal to his faction that after the leader sold it, he went and created his own version of it, and continues to fight the HOF in the same spirit of that faction, even if he has to do it alone. That is the very definition of honor. All the other members have moved on, but he keeps the Art of War alive!
Unknown_Element [450910]

using the current war system to time out wars so he can brag he beat people is not honorable. dude is a f**king joke. he is talking bout building a faction with trust and loyalty but yet has never had 1 person in his faction because then he would be able to get chained better and wouldnt be able to time out these wars so he can brag he beat a hof faction that doesnt give 2 shits bout his little 1 man faction. that is not in the spirit of the original faction, is an embarasment and he is just exploiting that faction name and the shitty current war system
MarlonBrando [1337797]
Thank you JJ general for your kind words, to hear it from one of the greatest HOF generals in the game means alot, Hoorah AOW honor rules!

The memory of a great man of honor is precious to us all, his passing on this week (Leonard Nemoy/Spock) is honored in this thread and real life as a real hero by billions across the globe as a model of integrity and honor.

The honor thing is huge in my book. I used to play a game called MostWanted.com (no longer available to play) We had a select group of players that not only played together but were friends in real life. I was one of the leaders of our group and I have to say every last player I would have handed over the reins to run the show we were that close. Nobody would have even thought about ripping us off, when I was in the hospital every last one would call me up to see how I was doing.

We were so tight, the game owner scammed 1000s of players and took the donations and moved away.

Well we found Torn and all started playing, one by one they all got frustrated and quit the game. I know 2 active players besides myself left. That is sad since we had over 15 player follow us.

Leaders must have the ability to override/confirm/ reverse leader/coleader faction actions

They already have this ability. Under your Faction Management tab you will find a button to make someone co-leader.

This means that you, the leader, have made a choice, not unlike in real life, based on the trust someone has earned from you, or co-opted or just not earned, which, they will do with what they please, as in real life.

How the f**k have any of you gotten through life with this sort of childish attitude? It's a video game. It's numbers on a database, people at their computers and graphics on a screen. If you being too trusting is a problem in the game, then you should probably walk away for a bit and have a think about what sort of person you are to be getting screwed over so badly and so often.

I've never been scammed in real life or on the internet. Do you know why?

PROBABLY NOT! HAHAHAHA! Ahhhhhh that was fun. Seriously though, it's because I'm not an idiot. You can protect idiots, you can coddle them, you can wrap them in cotton wool and store them in a cool, dry place and you know what? They'll still be. f**king. Idiots.

Next week, we learn not to plug forks into power points and other f**king amazing basic life skills you should know if you can type and control the majority of your spittle.

Oh and also, the homepage for the game has a great summary of why this idea is CancerAIDS.

Torn is a text-based online RPG set in Torn City, a dark, murky underworld where only the sharpest survive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it the sharpest Antelope that puts its neck in the mouth of the Cheetah then asks it (very politely mind you) to not do what any Cheetah would do and shuffle it off this mortal coil? No. So when a person is in a position they can abuse, in some way, shape or form, they will abuse it. If it's your faction, assume Murphy's Law about your co-leader. If you're the co-leader, then be proud that you're a person of such upstanding honour, trustworthiness and loyalty, or, EMPTY DAT VAULT AND MAKE IT RAIN!

Besides, having to worry about your faction being cleared out adds another level of visceral thrill to the proceeding you can't normally find in our wee despotic text-based Utopia.

TL:DR? Your idea is f**king stupid and counter to the stated creator-design of the game, along with the past, present and expected future metagame.

Torn's a crime game. I expect scamming, thieving, lying and backstabbing to be part of the other players gameplay, and without that the game wouldn't be as great.

It's a personal choice of how to play the game, and if you want to do it the "honourable" way, that's great too. Just dont force that on other people.

Honor based on respect is a superior moral imperative to obedience based on rules and laws.

Honor a more mature moral imperative than obedience, its often much more effective too. Social pressure the very thing that drives honor is more powerful than rules and laws in getting people to do the right thing.

Without honor, mediocrity, corruption, and incompetence rule. Honor is based on reputation, and when people stop caring about their reputation, and shame disappears, people devolve. The paradox of honor, and the constraints of any virtuous life, is that while the commitment to live with certain principles limits you in some ways, it also frees you in others. A man may willingly consent to and even impose on himself certain restrictions that he believes will actually lead to greater freedom and/or more opportunities.

Manliness means being a man of both conscience and honor inner conviction and concern for reputation among men should work together. When outside your honor faction, and nobody is watching, your conscience keeps you living the standards you believe in; when back with your faction, they strengthen your motivation to live those standards.
MarlonBrando [1337797]

"Traditional honor consists of having a reputation judged worthy of respect and admiration by a group of equal peers who share the same code of standards. In primitive times, these standards were based on strength and courage. In the medieval period, outward integrity and chivalry were added to these primal qualities of manhood. In the 19th century, the Stoic-Christian honor code drew from the philosophy of ancient Greece and the faith which gave the code its name, by seeking to form a new kind of honor one that wed together ancient bravery with character traits like industry, coolness, sincerity, chastity, self-sufficiency, self-control, orderliness, and dependability. In the 20th century, traditional honor unraveled as urbanization and anonymity dissolved the intimate, face-to-face relationships that honor requires, people grew uncomfortable with violence and shame, individual feelings and desires were elevated above the common good of society at the same time a shared idea of what constituted that common good was lost, and people began to form their own personal honor codes which could not be judged by anyone else but themselves. This completed honors transformation from wholly public and external to completely private and internal. Honor became a concept almost entirely synonymous with personal integrity."

Ultimately this is a game of honor, factions and territories war, The Art of War (AOW) : War Strategy http://suntzusaid.com/

...Strengthen my soul so that the weakening instinct of self-preservation, which besets all of us in battle, shall not blind me to my duty to my own manhood, to the glory of my calling, and to my responsibility to my fellow soldiers. Grant to our armed forces that disciplined valor and mutual confidence which insures success in war. Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived. If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor in a manner which will bring the greatest harm to the enemy, and ...Give us the victory...General George S Patton

Everything in this game is frustrating, especially Factions.

OC's suck, they take too long and don't pay off well and there isn't enough options. It's hard to make a Co unless you literally know them. Players don't stay. Players don't want to join. A small faction doing a 100 hit chain, is nulled out by some faction hitting you once or twice on bonus retaliation hits. DB's is only for a select few players who donate a shit tonne to make money.

I could go on and on. I don't know how blind Ched is to this game at times, I really don't.
LycanNinety [1878591]

No ones forcing anything on you my friend.
As you pointed out everyone's gonna play it how they see fit.
In RL most can't be big bad@ss gangsters or drug dealers. But here they are free to live out that fantasy.
If you want to go out pillage and plunder. Be a feared (but also hated) anomaly. Then you are welcome to do so. But (I think) a lot of us in this thread, our personal preference is to keep it on the up and up, at all times.
Strong bonds are built on trust and integrity. Not deception and scamming. And the ones that are don't last long cause they'r so quick to try'n one up the other person. The fact of the matter is that users who ARE honourable. Get looked upon as a joke and as easy targets for the more treacherous players.
MarlonBrando [1337797]
The Art of War (AOW) lives by an honor code, and honors, respects all others that do the same in all factions.

Honor creates community.
A shared honor code and the reliance on mutual respect to enforce that code can bind a community together stronger than laws, rules, and regulations. Honor forces us to think about whats best for the group/faction, and not necessarily whats best for our individual needs. It also forces us to deal with one another and sort problems out ourselves, instead of relying on some third-party authority (eg faction leaders, Ched and Team) to resolve our problems for us.

In short, as we grow up, "... the needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few or the one." in honor of Spock, you will be missed.

do i have a company full of loyal employees? yes i do

thank you , your dismissed troll elsewhere
MarlonBrando [1337797]
No honor or respect for others, you dishonor both yourself and your family by all your disgraceful posts throughout the forums and are ignored by all in your posts, you disrespect both the memory and name of a great hero in passing and a true model of honor (eg Spock/Leonard Nemoy) in this Honor thread...
