I miss the wars before factions were created, those were the days where there was a reason to war and almost all of Torn (Torn City back then) would watch as the events unfolded.

In the old days, before factions were even implemented and were nothing more than groups of people with a tag in front of their name, wars were very intense and agressive. There was no punishment other than seeing white everytime you logged in. No respect, so no respect loss. No way of "losing any assets".

Why would it be that, somewhere along the way, this intrinsic motivation of just kicking ass, was lost?
Rekker [1761]

It was pointless & stupid lol

Ched added a point to it (factions) which has become the best thing about the game
There are still plenty of people that want to kick ass :)

Thats the issue with war in torn its just boring you have a lil banter n some forum bashing before your warned about flaming but overyly once youve farmed n got specials theres f**k all to do there is no goal n you end up doing termed wars or sitting there in the top spots stagnating / training

hopefully territories brings back that that bad blood ,vengeance , feuding style gameplay with aspects like getting penalised for loosing territories / rolling over or individual incentives to boost you for holding / defending it

overly it needs to be fun competative n less steamrollerable

Meh, some of the people on this thread were the same people complaining about wars not being fair.

Some of us foresaw this years ago before changes were actually implemented, only to be shunned by newb players who felt they needed to have a faction. Let's face it, some folks shouldn't have a faction. They could do just as well having friends on their friends list or something of that nature. OCs aren't even really worth it.

TBH: Factions suck now because people are candyasses and feel they have a birthright to owning a faction. They couldn't cope with the fact that their factions were destroyed because they sucked. Back in the day when you could destroy a faction via chains, it made people actually actively play to find a solution before their building was destroyed, which made much more sense.

Instead of joining a decent faction, getting some respect, making some respectable friends, and then perhaps later on making a faction that can actually defend itself, many folks decided to just group a bunch of non-active noobs into a noob gang and cry when they were destroyed. Some folks would literally cry as per their own comments which is stupid and just shows how much of a candyass they are if they feel they have to cry over a few lines of text on an online game.

Faction destruction was a good thing. It helped purge the thousands of noob factions that plague the city today (including my current bank faction, which shouldn't exist, but meh). On other games, when your team, family or faction gets owned, it just means you have been bested. That's the point of a game. The challenge. Here, there is no challenge. Most people just play passively now. Even chaining is a passive sport now with all the caps and such. People have "termed" wars, which compares to old school wars in the same way that golf compares to football. It's sad to see that folks would rather "play nice" and conform to this peaceful nonsense on a game where the main objective is shooting large caliber weapons and comitting crimes.

I wish those folks would have found a copy of the sims instead. I'm sure it was more up their alley based on how they play.

now factions are destroyed because they all quit since warring sucks :)

everyone just joins the top 10 factions and their sub factions. Not very many real factions outside of the top few that are active.

i dont think territories will be super fun unfortunately - would shock me if it is. But it will be cool for a little bit..
Dash [3901]

Nah. Wouldn't make a difference at this juncture, everyone is too beefed up to care.

Missing a few steadfast trains wouldn't make enough of a difference to be a serious penalty.

Let's face it, the only thing that would make war exciting is faction destruction. Without it, there is no serious risk; no challenge.

Dirty bombs would be cool if they completely eliminated a faction. I know this would cause a lot of drama, but maybe that could be fixed by making it more difficult to produce one (not more costly, as money isn't really an issue anymore and there isn't really much to spend on nowadays).

EDIT: PS: The ranking system sucks.

Why should a DB that can be used by anyone(players not in factions included) be able to destroy a faction. A player who has never earned respect in their whole torn career be able to take away players hard work and nothing can be done to them individually.

Personally I think DBs should be for individuals not factions.

Drop it on a person and it reduces happy and stats for a month. A week in hospital with no way of getting out.
Now that's painfull stuff. If you really don't like someone you hurt their game play.

radiation would affect the surrounding area ie. faction would suffer somewhat but 1 person would have gotten thiir ass kicked.

Yeah truth is Dirty Bombs being "More Destructive" won't help the game at all.

16bill for 1 person may seem like a lot but for a faction it's nothing.

The game itself just needs a revamp. A reason for people to log in and protect what's theirs.

Baka [1183749]

Would be ridiculous imo to let a db instantly destroy a faction.
Seeing as most of the hof now have at least one , or at least the resources to make one , they would just all destroy each other within a week. All the years of work gone .

These days you also get new players who can win billions at the casino within days . Do you think such a player should be able to destroy jfk in a click ?
LimeTree [1321200]

Please apply for the player committee, it would be nice to have someone on it who actually remembers how fun the game used to be.
LimeTree [1321200]

Make it take far more respect to increase the chance of the fac going to 0 respect, and greatly reduce the timer until deletion to say 20minutes.

I believe that some of the game fuels, especially those enforced in the forums. I see nothing wrong with bashing each others in the forum. It is this pissing one another off that will create feuds! A faction member, posted in an opposing factions recruitment thread (with nothing offensive) but got their post removed for 'trolling'.

We should be allowed to make enemies.

From all the wars that I've followed in this forum, there are some individuals that do rub their opponents up the wrong way and sadly get their comments removed or banned. These people in my opinion these should be encouraged.
Wollongong [12833]

I agree. While the current moderation of the forum is positive in terms of decency, we just don't have proper smacktalk anymore. I do remember actually HATING some guys in SS for their forumposts....the satisfaction when you put them in hosp is just not the same if the worse you can say in the forums is "I personally have the opinion that the feelings that I hold towards you, and the emotions you invoke within me are not positive"...
