So the current Stealth system always feels abit random in my opinion... and its abit stupid that the attack itself and the amount of rounds a fight takes doesnt count any torwards the factor if its stealthed or not.
Its just the single stat check that matters when starting an attack and nothing more afaik.
I would suggest that not just the simple speed/dex to opponent speed/dex ratio is counted, but for each round you are fighting, theres a chance to not stealth depending on your stats.
So if you bash someone in a single hit, even he has higher stats, your chance to stealth it will be still ok. But if you take like 15 rounds to hosp someone, even when your stats are alot higher, it will be really hard to stealth.
So for example:
When you have 1b speed/dex and the opponent has 10m speed/dex: theres a 5% chance to not stealth on each round you take for your attack.
When you have 10m speed/dex and the opponent has 1b speed/dex: theres a 50% chance to not stealth on each round you take for your attack.
When you lost the chance in a round, your attack will not be stealthed anymore.
So the more rounds you need, the smaller the chance is to stealth the attack.
The numbers are still abit random.. but i hope you got the idea.
Would be nice to read some opinion about the idea:)
Stealth attacking could mean the attacker is wearing a ski-mask or something, so longer fights wouldn't help to uncover an attacker. At most a defender could learn the general body shape and possibly gender. XD
Just to add to this. Dexterity may be used to factor the odds of the attacker being unmasked. You can't be exposed if the victim can't grab your mask. What bothers me is that a low dex attacker risks exposing all the other attackers. Is it even possible to stealth multiple attackers?

although i do not fully understand how stealth works, (have more of a clue now that i have read this thread) i still think this is an excellent idea. 100% of the attacks on me are by "someone" so i guess everyone who attacks me is stealthed?
also, i think the type of attack should have an effect on whether or not it is stealthed. If someone attacks you and leaves, they can be more stealthy. if they take the time to search you and reach in your pockets to take $20,000, then the stealthiness of the attack should be reduced. using the example above of a ski mask, i can much more easily pull one off if you are rummaging through my personal effects, leaving yourself undefended.
