It is very common for people to try something, fail it, then disparage the thing they failed at.
Trying new things: often good
Failing the new thing: no biggie

Have you not seen numerous posts about torn on the decline boredom and mass sissy wars you have missed it all.....
try looking in the tutorial and guides section. This should help you figure out what you want to do. This game is what you make it.

Torn is an interesting game but you have to get into it and work at some aspect. It has a complex economy and the ways in which money becomes stats but stats can make money have numerous subtleties. If you only log on and click to train and crime then it is boring.
