This is a great smudge heres some cnc

You have put the brightest part on the dark side of his head try it on the bright side? (right side)

The shadows are a little too much maybe lighten them up a little

You could also play around with the dodge/burn tool too lighten up some of the smudge parts

Also if you got nice texturesmaybe add 1-2 to give it a nice effect
