we all know, and have been told that a better driving skill makes you a better racer, i drive a lexus A class, maxed for long ratio and tarmac, and never win at withdrawal
this is because i am not as experienced, and need more skill
i am looking for drivers to do a race, probably d/e class, i will require your total time and fastest lap, and driver skill before the race, the more racers the better, this is going to be held in a few days, but i need to know who's interested

You need to explain what your test is more, specifically are u using like specific car type and how many upgrades. How your running the test is confusing like are you only taking fastest lap times because that doesn't show very much if you only run a 5 lap race.
Lastly I'm confused at the purpose for this test. Driver Skill makes a huge difference if all factors are equal but the computer does it best to match with you like drivers so its nearly impossible to look at any official races to determine whats happening. There are also many other factors with official races and some serious misconceptions about the best cars.
If this helps to get my 250 race merit I raced against a friend with 8 driving skill and 10+ driving skill, my driver skill at that point was 4.25. I used my Class B car that was upgraded 2/3. Initialing they both tried an upgraded class C car. I lost every race. Then tried class D I lost most races to the person with 10+ driver skill but won approximately 60% vs the 8 driver skill. Then they used class E car and I won almost all the races to get my merit.
ok, so for instance, everyone uses a brand new toyota MR2, at say meltdown
i get a whole bunch of racers, we do a hundred laps, everyone mails me their skill before, their fastest lap and their time, the aim being to see how much of an effect driver skill has
If I'm available I'll help. Still don't really understand the purpose. Your example proves the difficulty of orgainizing this as well because I couldn't participate because my MR2 already has 25 points used on it, obviously you could use a different car but to get any sort of realistic study would be very difficult needing a lot racers and more than one 100 lap race.
true, i mean that was just an example, and i know from looking at the detail from hanks guides that any proper data would need various experiments, but it might provide a decent idea
Maybe the better question is what are you trying to prove?
I'm always improving my own fastest times, so driver skill is one of the factors involved.
id love to do ur experiment... i drive an E class volvo 850...if this will do then please ingame me a message and ill respond
I would like to do this, too. I am told that the more drivers in a race, as well as the number of laps, affects driver skill gained. So a bigger race would be cool. Be sure to message me ahead of time so I can be there -- I am usually flying during my daytime and racing at night.
I do gain some driver skill every time I participate in a long race, so it does work.
I don't know for sure, but I've never had any reason to believe that having more drivers in a race increases the skill you gain from that race.
Every race does have a fairly large random factor. I've beat people who had twice my driver skill, and lost to people with much lower driver skill, due to that random factor.
im looking about the effect of driver skill on your time, not driver skill gained compared to drivers in a race
I understand what you are trying to prove. And what you are trying to experiment on. But the variables are to great. You would have to trust that everyone taking part is running the exact same setup. I think the proof is already there as your driving skill goes up you start losing. Until you start making car adjustments or using a different car.
We all understand what your looking at. The problem is you haven't explained your hypothesis and what new knowledge this would bring.
To most of there is already enough evidence that higher driver skill = higher lap times.
I also think you really only need a limited amount of samplers to control as many of the variables that guy_smiley talked about. For example drivers with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and however far u want to go after that. Each person should run 100 lap races 10x with 0 upgrades on the same track. You could look at the correlation of percentage increase of time. You could also see the avg amount that each person went up in driver skill and create line graph. That's a lot of work for something that we already know just don't have direct numbers. It's even harder finding the right saps oops I mean people to help.
everyone knows better driver skill means better lap times
i am trying to find out what the effect is, bu having as many drivers, ie as big a range as possible, then see what the avg lap times against driver skill would be like
If that's what your trying to do less drivers and more laps are better.. I'd suggest either going every 2 racing skill or 3 racing skill. Having each person tell you the results of 10 -100 lap races on speedway with something like the reliant robin. If your doing every 2 racing skill you'll need 8 drivers at most and 3 racing skill you'll need 6. The problem is finding the top and bottom of each category. Having a whole bunch of middle is worthless.
