yes but that wont get you enough to get prizes would it?
You're now contradicting yourself.
More of a challenge? Is that what you want? Because the competition as it stands is more of a challenge.
10 tokens would buy me a merit.
It's easy to get to 50 tags and earn that merit as well, can be done in one day.
Not everyone can win. Your current logic is "There's going to be losers! That's so unfair"
OP is a bit special.
One of the main points of training your stats is so that less people can beat you easily. Having said that, I don't believe that having higher stats than most people guarantee your win. Obviously, you have an edge over those with less than you, but that is generally how it is in every game, otherwise there would be very little incentive to keep improving yourself.
Just about any rpg or time-consuming game is made in a way so that the more time and money that you spend in the game advantages you over those that spend less.
Would it be fair for someone who has played 2 months has the same exact chance to win a fighting based competition as someone who has been grinding for 2 years?
What I like about this year's competition is that different levels give different dog tags; it gives an incentive for players to attack higher levels over just going for the lowest lvls.
What I don't like is that any attack gives you a chance of getting a dog tag; I would prefer that you have to actually mug to have an opportunity to obtain a dog tag. It seems way to easy at the moment: just chaining in a war gives dog tags.
I also like the fact that those that are constantly attacked have a lower chance of losing a dog tag, sort of disuades people from camping the wame target over and over.
Bottom line: The new mechanics are intriguing and will make for a fun and challenging competition. Plus, all that is learner from this year can be used to improve next year's event.
Thanks,
V.
no his logic is "we all know who the losers are before it starts". not exactly the same thing is it?
if you consider getting a merit a 'win' for this competition that's great, but I doubt that is what the OP was referring to.
this thread pops up every time this comp starts. it always ends the same way. low stat players say they cant win, high stat players lie and say they can. blah blah blah, back and forth they go until low and behold lvl 80+ takes all the top spots despite the debates.
truth is you either know you wont take the top spots and play for merits or save your E for next year. that's it. no amount of 'trying' will change that reality or get them to change the comp.
P.S. OP, if you think any of these high stat players will ever, and I mean EVER, admit that things in Torn are designed to keep them happy you have a long road ahead of you. Torn is about accepting mediocrity and being happy with lesser goals that are actually achievable. its only a game. if you are playing Torn to be the best you will always be unhappy. there is fun to be had, it just isn't at the top for most people.
This quote. x9001
As i said, there will be winners and losers, but that doesn't mean it's set in stone.
I will refer to CptBritain coming 8th at under 200 days (as posted earlier) an example of this.
It's just younger players having a negative attitude towards the challenge. A lot of weak players are taking it on. I'm in no way strong myself, but that hasn't deferred me from trying in these comps.
You will never succeed if you always expect to fail.
Edit: Group attacks change the dynamics of this competition even more. You will see some big players taken down by groups of weaker players, guaranteed
I'd say it wouldn't necessarily be about the strongest. It is about who can fly under the radar the best. My stats are too low and level are too high for me to get first, not to mention I post on the forums a lot. For example, say you want the merits. 250 Dog tags... assuming you have perfect luck (1 attack 1 dog tag).... under current mechanics of the game taking 3 Xanax is 750 energy.. being active for 21 hours a day is 630 energy.. utilizing refill another 150. Max out on fhc coupons (4) that is 600 energy. So a total of 2130 energy per day is actually possible in a short term burst (or about 85 attacks). At a 1:1 ratio assuming no loss that means 5 days of attacking to get 250 dog tags... which is a merit and has a cost of 12m*4*5=244 million.
Now, between your attack sprees you self hospitalize to avoid loosing your tags. That means anyone with enough money can do it. The truth is the harsh reality- low level players don't generally have the money to do that AND fly under the radar. In order for a new player to have a chance they must stealth and basically not deal with anyone while the competition is going on. So by eliminating the fhc coupons you reduce # of attacks per day by 24... means probably 2-3 more days to it but at a much cheaper price.
I'm a shit stat player who was told he would never survive the torn of the dead competition and get the survivor honour.
I got it. I consider that a competition win.
It took me setting alarms to wake up at ridiculous times in the morning, only ever sleeping at 4 hours at a time. Rushing to catch trains and sprinting to places with internet access, trying ever so hard to make sure I could log in when my flight was about to land. And worst of all, avoiding LimeTree, who made it his mission to infect me.
Despite high stat and high level players trying to make me join the ranks of the infected and stalking my profile, I managed to beat them and get an honour that I think only 800 or so other people managed to get (don't quote me on that number).
You can level the playing the field in these competitions. You just have to have the conviction to do it. Which is the way it should be. If people REALLY want to win, they can win.
So to anyone who is going to resign themselves to the sidelines for competitions like this one, now and in the future, I can only hope this inspirational video leads you to the light.
JUST DO IT.
I'm a low stats player -consider myself one- and I think It's only fair for high levels to have the biggest chance. they don't win in general because the highest stats. They win cause they're usually the best players! If you can play it right even low levels can get 50 tags EVERY day.. I mean there's nearly a milllion people who are bellow level 15 and inactive to take tags from... Then just swap them out with some friends and boom.. You've got tons of score.
Also with the new updates like for example when you camp on someone the chance of getting a tag actually drops.. which means players who easily lose get a certain amount of protection.
But well it's about participating.. There can only win 1 person so even the 'strong' guys often don't consider them as winners since they know there can only be one.
R- cause if you don't like it just play like you always would and don't participate.
But you cannot compare Torn of the dead with this torn of the dead is extremely hard but achievable dont become infected. Dog Tag competitions are a lot more competition[image: cdncache-a.akamaihd.net] is a lot more complicated even if you manage to fly below the radar there is still a big problem, you dont have enough tags to win the competition and there is no point of playing for the merits i could buy 1 for 250 points instead of spending 244mil on it (quoting Rino_007)
>"Torn of the dead is simple but achievable"
Put your survivor honour on and say that again.
It required dedication and resolve, as would winning this competition.
Way to edit, this is why I dislike the new forums. People can just change their tune the second they get called on their bullshit.
In line with your edit, this competition is extremely hard but achievable as well. You're just being a defeatist.
This has to be the most arrogant post ive seen so far .
The guy who claims its fair ( not that i say it isnt ) tells the world how to win such a competition by being smart . Well sir how come you havent one a dog tag competition yet ?
Are you not smart ?
It was a typo ive corrected it
I feel like some of the top 10 in this competition will have mediocre stats, making this thread didn't help your case and now people will watch your attack count and target you if your counts go up during this month. I feel like it should be easy to make more hits than you are hit for most people and therefore gain tags and score.
Yes it will take slightly more effort to do this if you have shit stats, then again I want a slight advantage for playing this game for 10 years and being in the top 150 people for stats.
No Torn of The Dead is easier than dog tags because everyone has a fair chance of winning it. Here its not even if you fly under the radar that wont get you the dog tags you need to win the competition and even if you do manage to get 50 dog tags a day with your technique ive attacked nearly 45 times today and have only got 2 dog tags today and about half of them were inactive so am i still being defeatist to you?
And you have changed your posts too Leafeh so stop being hypocritical
Be good to be able opt out. I have no interest in the competition, nor chance. XD
All it takes is one person to infect you on torn of the dead and you've lost.
Here you have a month of attacking and being attacked to do your best. Something as simple as your phone dying can lose you Torn of the dead (which is exactly what happened to me on the 2nd last day, died before i could fly back from SA while i was travelling home irl).
As for attacking unsuccessfully; choose your targets better, simple as that.
You can't complain that it is "unfair" that better players are likely to do better than you because they are better than you...It's terrible logic. It would be unfair to "make it even" in your eyes and remove any potential advantage better players have earned by playing the game well.
The advantages you name do exist. But they haven't been given to players, player have earned it through hard work. There's ways around these advantages, which is what the good players of the future will figure out.
The rest will sit and whine.
And whine.
And continue to whine.
And then whine in a years time when the competition starts again they've whined for a year about other things instead of growing.
