Why can't I use a vault in a rented property even though I got to pay for its maintenance fee ( property upkeep) each day ?

You have to be the owner (or their spouse with vault sharing) to use a vault, its a privilege that only they have.
As for upkeep, thats for the happiness bonus.

The maintenance fees are also technically just for the staff you hire, as the vault has no ongoing fees associated with it. You raise a good point though as to whether you should be allowed to use a vault in a rented property.

the point of full access should always remain with a owner of a PI your getting a taste of what you can have it you work hard.

way before your time there was no rentals and you couldnt even live in one without you or spouse owning one. just be glad you have a much easier climb then what alot of us had =)

I wish people stopped using "You have it easier than we did" Argument. We are progressing for a reason, to improve Torn and make it easier to access but also engaging to play.

Renting a property should give you access to all facilities, just no ability to change them.

its originally meant to be a long term game not have it all in 30 you have access to the happiness of hard working vets with free refills to begin with i believe 20 when you sign up thats about 34mill in value plus access to 750mill in happiness plus the help from faction benefits that of factions that have put years into building the benefits thru there own sacrifice.....i value that to add up over 1bill in total value. that you did not go out and earn yourself its just meant to be a helping hand to give you a good start to the game and still beggers and scammers think they are being discriminated against it took me weeks to build up a few mill but with the healthy start new players get today its not good enough.

i dont care that you get a step up to be competitive but be greatful for what is available we didnt have 10 years of exp in player tutorials and guides to help either.

if you start a faction today as long as you atleast do a little attacking your faction is safe used to be you put in hard work to build up your respect and when someone declared war on you that was better than you you fought like hell to keep your faction alive or you payed every penny to get them to leave you alone it was harder to be successful.

you wanna a real torn badass? restart with nothing and only do crimes and mug people dont take handouts dont power level to flower run just do the time consuming hard work of crimes, gym, mugs, and activity and dont even consider using those free refills, dont rent any house earn money buy a trailer earn more buy a apartment all the way to private island, work hard to pay the upkeep, and no taking handouts of any kind.

That's just pure pride. I don't value pride very highly.

Yes it is a long term game, but why lock off a key facility while renting a property? You are renting it to use it, not to get functions of it locked off.

Yes, beggars are annoying, but the hostile responses and lack of any kinds of proper assistance doesn't help things at all. Maybe point them in the right direction, give them some basic, cheap equipment like an AK-47.
Give a man a fish, and he'll be fed for a day. Give a man a fishing rod, and he'll be fed for as long as he can fish.

Plus, the friendships formed might actually benefit you in the long term, also helping things being long term.

Also an added minor side effect would reduce the motivation for people to marry private Island owners purely for the Private Island, by making more features available to renters that, in a realistic sense, would be available to a renter in reality. It doesn't even unbalance the gameplay.

The only losing party would be muggers, but there's no way I can sympathize with career muggers since I dislike targeting other players purely for my own gain. But to each their own.
