This spreadsheet interests me.
I noticed some user error is possible with the spreadsheet. One user input the interest rate that the bank displays, instead of its decimal equivalent. In this case, the user put 0.8 in for week 1 interest, and 1.84 in for week 2 interest. The cells below it add 1 in order to calculate how much the bank will pay the user for x investment.
The user had investment amount listed as follows:
$4,500,000 in the bank with
$50,000 coming in daily (
$350,000 weekly). For week one the interest was listed as 0.8 and the bank would give an
80% return. So, said user probably is under the impression that 1 week is always the best, because making 80% of the money they invested and then reinvesting it for 80% profit is the only course of action if that is the reality. So in this example, the user was able to put $4.5 million into the bank and in one week got the return of $8.45 million plainly preposterous. If the percentage is converted into a decimal (0.008 and 0.0184) the result reverses and the investor should be putting their money into the bank for 2 weeks at a time.
My suggestion is to:
>Put a guide as to how input should look
and/or >Have the cell below the percentage convert the number from torn into a decimal for the user.
Both suggestions may be needed, as some users will intuitively convert the percentage into a decimal while some users may just input what torn says directly.
A simple (D9/100) + 1 and (E9/100) + 1 should fix the issue. As will specifying that users put in the exact percent that appears on their banking page. As an example, I would put in 1.1 and 2.53
if these changes were implemented.
[image: i.snag.gy]Also, I finally figured out how I can edit google docs without editing the original shared document. If you go to file, select "Make a copy..." This will make a private version of the spreadsheet in your own google docs so you cant accidentally screw someone elses work up and so that others will not see the input that you have placed into the document.
