Air strikes do work - to a degree. It plays havoc with their logistics. Have you not noticed ISIS in the Middle East have not taken any more ground since the air strikes began?

So you want boots on the ground? Are you going to put yourself forward to get your boots on the ground or do you just want others to risk their life in some God forsaken desert?

Of course, if we do deploy troops, once they get there they will be held back by unrealistic rules of engagement to minimise collateral damage, their kit will be crap because of defence cuts, there will of course not be enough of them to do the job and, once they have finished, a battalion of human rights lawyers will be suing the government and demanding prosecution of said soldiers.

Ive posted before that I know they are muslim mostly sunni in fact the various fighting groups are mostly socialists , hence theyre forces are usually 25% female fighters and many women lead men into battle .

Airstrikes on ISIS in Syria are not working at all, because theres no follow up on the ground, the rebels and the pro Assad forces are at each others throats. Nothing will work while theyre like this.
In Iraq on the other hand, they are working because theyre all fighting against ISIS which is why ISIS is losing land in Iraq but gaining it in Syria.

The Kurds are doing some pretty good work but look at how it will end if the Kurds are given heavy weapons, another civil war but this time Iraqi government vs Kurdish militias

So the president of Iraq is a kurd Fuad Masum and is preceding the former president of Iraq Jalal Talabani was also a kurd. Hardly see the likelihood of the Iraqi government, in an official capacity, going after the Kurdistan regional government.

What is far more likely, and is perhaps hinted at by Saudi Arabia's desire to deploy ground troops in the Syria-Iraq fronts, is to continue to support sunni groups in the region to be used against the resurgent shia militias and kurdish peshmergas. Iranian and Saudi geopolitics is pronounced, but so is the NATO-Russia strategic objectives, as well as Turkey's desire to put down any possibility of an established Kurdish Republic across the three countries.

This definitely is not going to be solved through air strikes, and nor is it going to improve with further competing regional and global powers becoming embroiled in the region. Any expansion of the use of military force that aims to destroy or support a particular group by the outside influences risks fomenting further de-stabilization in the region.

It's quite the quagmire that has developed and I think the ground training mission is the only involvement global powers should be involved in. Restoration of Assad's regime on the condition that a secession plan is implemented should be negotiated with the Russians. Turkey needs to cease its covert funding of ISIS groups. The Sauds should stop dropping internationally banned cluster munitions in Yemen and their linkages to ISIS both financial and philosophical should stop. Iran should lead the re-capturing of Mosul in coordination with the Iraqi government via its support of the shia militias. The Kurds should push west and establish a unified front across Iraq and Syria, and their efforts to stabilize their sphere of influence should be feted with a serious consideration to affording them statehood.

It still amazes me how people consider Assad the bad guy here. REALLY? Next to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, US and ISIS?

Turkey that committed genocide on Armenians and Kurds? Or the worst dictatorship on earth, Saudi Arabia, with a mentality stuck in 14th century? Or USA that killed millions all over the world through proxy wars and false flag invasions? Dropped two atomic bombs?

And Assad is the bad guy?

You know whats gonna happen with Syria if they take down Assad? It's gonna lose its sovereignty. It would end up like Libya, a once great country now divided into factions, with NO industry, NO tourists, NO safety, HUGE corruption, and the saddest, NO FUTURE!!!!

Did I mention Erdogan is now bombing his own cities and blaming Kurds so he can have a legitimate reason to invade Syria? Hmm, does that sound familiar?

Its called the Islamic state or the Arabic word Daesh. The Americans call it ISIL. Please don't call it ISIS. ISIS is an Egyptian goddess, and strong figure in the ancient Egyptian religion. I take that as an offense. Have some respect for a great ancient civilization. Using the word ISIS for the terrorist group is a severe desecration of history.

You think we all know Egyptian culture? My knowledge of ancient Egypt is limited, i can name the landmarks, rulers and some geographical terms. I'm not Egyptian.

I say let the Muslims have their state. Move out any Christians that they have not yet burnt or beheaded and let them have it.

Once they are all in there then deport into it any Muslim living overseas who insists on following the medieval culture of Islam. They want halal food? Go to the Islamic State. They want time off for Islamic festivals? Go to the Islamic faith. They want to cover their women up? Go to the Islamic State. They want Sharia Law to be recognised? Go to the Islamic State. They want to do bad things to children? Send them to the Islamic State. I could go on but you get the idea.

That way the Muslims who want to live in peace and in accordance with the customs and culture of their adopted countries can live in harmony with the local populations and the nutters will all be in one place.

In the UK ISIS is the recognised description of these terrorists - Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham. UK citizens call it that, if you don't like it then please write to the following and tell him, use small words though as he is very stupid

It is a good thought in abstract terms, in reality it would be mighty tough to work out logistically though.

And all the do-gooder organizations worldwide would never go for it, because they are convinced they can fix what doesn't want to be fixed.

I say let the do gooders go with em. lol.. Sure they can come back when they find out how hopeless it is to change some societies. But once they realize it for themselves after experiencing it first hand. & how lil respect the locals would actually have for their well being & rite to wanna bitch & moan & criticize everything that holds the fabric of what makes westernized societies great. & they don't have what they refer to as us "Right wing crazies" to fall back on. maybe it will get through their heads.
