i'm pretty sure most of us have been bountied... Myself, i'm in the top 0.5% for bounties received!

every so now and then a suggestion is made to give noobs some sort of bounty protection, which the community shoots down

whilst i largely agree, i do feel that there should be a SMALL degree of protection in extreme circumstances, so that new players who aren't making enough to be able to afford meds to make the game playable aren't leaving permanently

does something need to be done with bounties?

Why does the "No" option have to have additional text.

Why can't it just say no.

Anywho, the question.
No. There doesn't "need" to be.

I'd only be in favour of completely scrapping bounties if equal penalties were added to the game... e.g. multiply medical cooldown times by like... 10x (Being over dramatic, but just to make the point)

Singular bounties tend to be mostly useless, people can just med out selectively... however get rid of them entirely and leave it up to the player in question to deal with their own mess and you have a much more attractive prospect to do so when your more singular attacks make more of an impact.

In reality though this would fail to work effectively due to other things in place particularly with attrition damage in this attack system and medical items being so intrinsic now to life restoration, not to mention things like losses/failed runaways etc... not something that should be so harshly penalised in my opinion...

Either way... most solutions are not going to be beneficial to newbies. You're either going to completely kill off any way to effectively 'make someone pay' or go too far in the other direction :/

im not being bountied, but when i am it annoys me, that is all

you cant exactly deny that some new players find it difficult to deal with lots of bounties with little cash and or meds

New players should be made aware that there are lots of trigger happy players who play this game. Players who like to bounty beggars and whiners.

I think a lot of people who join this game see the chats full of people posting and the forums full of people posting and they think its like facebook.

This isnt facebook. There are lots of sharks who will eat the little fish in the sea. Be careful.

i dont want this as a suggestion, i wanted it as a discussion to see what people think of bounties

could staff please move it back
Jobby [1640111]

What's going on with all the reports?

...but anyhoo's...I think something should be done, even if it's only something small to discourage serial bountiers from picking on the newblets
Grif [882958]

id agree, pheonix isnt offering an option, he is mearly gauging peoples thoughts on the matter
seems like it fits in GD

anyway my opinion on the matter is that new players get 14 days protection, and by that point they should realise how large a scale the different in play age/cash is.

the best solution to make people less "bullied" by bounties would be to add an older players chat, so we could burn global and not have to deal with all the players begging and being twats, which is probably the cause for about 99% of repeat bountiues
Cursed [1901987]

well, we managed to get it moved back :D

i like the concept of an older players chat, but it could be an adaptation of having the suggestion "make new players chat last til 100 days"

i normally tell people that they have 14 days to learn to not be an a*****e, and that they get what they deserve, but there are some cases where players quit because of excessive bounties
dunmugmeh [538353]

If you are a low level and coffee makes you excited DONT drink it and post on the forums at the same time or the sharks will bounty you for fun.

With my levels i have to put in extra special effort to get bounties anymore now because its so much easier bountying a loud mouthed level 4 multi who is all hyped up on his coffee :P

I want to hurt people and even a 5m bounty on me it took someone an hour just to claim it.

There aren't enough players anymore for bounties to actually effect people as bad as they used to 2 years ago. though on low level it's easy to put 300k on a level 1 and have it collected quite fast. On higher levels not many try to claim them anymore.

They need to hurt people more than they currently do. Or maybe have more merits involved in bounty hunting to get the interest back... as people probably don't like spending energy on such a low reward when they can buy mug someone for 10x the amount with ease.

Serial bounties should be discouraged in my opinion. One way could be to have each successive bounty cost more than the preceding one..
XxXToxicXxX [133819]

Where's Krak to weigh in on this. I personally abuse the hell out of noobs with bounties... and I was pretty sure a couple years ago the Council or whatever we were called actually gave in and put some kind of padding on the nooblets to give them a fair start... though once that fair start is over...
