It seems a little unfair that someone 20+ levels ahead of me can attack me. I think there should be some kind of system that only allows attacks within +/- 5 levels or something.

Lol?

It's a multiplayer game, restricting it just because you have barely even interacted in the game yourself yet is just absurd...

Try actually playing the game first before making suggestions to effectively shut off 90% of the game to active players :|

As a new player you DO actually get protection... For your first 14 days players older than that cannot attack you

However... you joined a faction... which removes this protection...

Leave your faction and you'll be fine... if they aren't providing any kind of medical items or other benefits then what are you even there for to begin with?

you cant be attacked by players older than 14 days old if you arent in the faction as you get 2 weeks protection when you start playing

you joined a terrible faction, full of new players which forfeits your protection

quit and gain it back

this 5 +/- thing is stupid

as people level hold

new players before a certain age really shouldnt be able to suggest things

i dont see any issue with the +/-5 levels!

jks

what however SHOULD be a thing: players cant join a faction til they are 31 days or something, that would stop all there butthurt threads

Everybody goes through the hazing period and your best defence against it is to train hard, bank / stash your cash in items, bookies (remember to withdraw from bookies before betting closes) or buy points from the market and sell points when you need the cash.

Torn stat building is hugely diverse so a level restriction is just not feasible - at first it sounds a good idea but as time goes on people play in such a variety of ways it becomes clearer ther more you play.

I am happy for you to message me if you need help. Your best defence in Torn is information and sound strategical mid to long term choices

Edit : im about to log off so wont be able to answer now but check the tutorials and guides section like wulfs guide and other new player guides you can find on there.

Let them join a faction, just make it clearer to them that new player protection is a thing and how it gets voided upon joining a faction.

Lots of little things like this should have been added years ago... I'd really like to see the tutorial missions go into clearer detail about how hospitalising targets gives no real benefit to the player either... lots of newbies do it to each other thinking it's the best option and end up quitting as a result of being unable to play the game they just signed up for for several hours... Probably costs Torn more players than I care to think about than many other reasons, including OP's...

hmm. im pretty new. but im really active so i think i have a somewhat fair opinion to share. a lot of the older players can be pretty set in their ways, but i want you to know that i've thought about what you're suggesting and i agree with the others that it would be an overall bad change to the game. however, i think if the developers would care to manage it, that when people become bullies, attacking a player way below them in stats/lvl whatever because they know they can destroy them time and time again, that the lower player should develop a "personal battle experience". now, the number of attacks would have to be pretty significant to initiate this building of personal experience and then really show the change in the lower player's ability, but eventually, it wouldn't be worthwhile for the bigger player to attack that same person. if you spar with the same person over and over, you eventually pick up on their fighting technique and can at least hold your own against them so why not here?

(note: i've heard some mentions of battle experience in general but haven't really looked into it and maybe that's a similar or same concept; again, fairly new so dunno) but anyway, welcome to Torn:)
