I'm a relatively new player here and I was wondering if anyone knew how I can figure out how much experience I have to get until the next level or if that is even a thing (exp. I mean.)

Don't be in a hurry, just enjoy your game for now, welcome to Torn. It is fun being a lower level. Just try and stay under the radar to avoid the jerks who love placing bounties on new players.

once you're level 15 you can fly to china to see the fortune teller, she'll tell you how far you are to the next level. Apart from that there's no way, which makes this game really different from others!

she speaks the truth.
Be cool and make friends with good people and get to learning the game - its a big big game and its one of the best once you got the basics :)
while i would agree with staying relitively under the radar, id say most people that get bountied in their low levels do something to deserve it, ie incessant begging or being a general ahole
some people get bountied for no reason, but thats rarely the case
anyway helpers /staff have New player chat, and watch it to see if you have any questions so absolutely ask questions there or mail a helper directly for help, or feel free to post questions here, or even if you ask in global chat and are nice about it usually people are nice in that case
a tip id give you based on your question is
this is a long play game, and level doesnt matter as much as you think, later levels comes down almost all to stats, bar close fights decided by life bars
there are many different ways to play how you do is up to you
a few good tips though are, dont beg for stuff in global or in general to be honest, usually annoys people
you also dont need 50million starting off, sure it helps, but its better to develop more of an understanding of how to build up in the game than jumping straight in with a bunch of cash
Okay. Thanks for the help.
You think that the developers might add in a exp bar? Do you wish they would?
They won't ever add one, and I would personally hate it. It gets brought up as a suggestion nearly every month or so, but always quickly dissappears again.
Okay. Why would you hate it?
Because this is one of the things I personally think defines the game, being surprised whenever you level up, not knowing when it's gonna happen :D
Well you know roughly after a while but still. It's nice to not know when you'll level I think. Same for crime experience btw, I also like it that you won't know when your nerve bar upgrades, and then you just come online do a crime, and all of the sudden you have more nerve to use.
I just love those little things.
Ah. I see. How would you feel if they added the bar in, but you could toggle whether your see it or not?
Meh, not to sure, defeats the whole point of not being able to know your progress.
the point harley is trying to make. is you dont "try to level" unless you are close to a merit or something
otherwise you do everything that makes the game, the game
then you get exp from that and level up that way, you dont need to know how close you are to nerve and level increases
also on that note, i doubt the dev wants people to be able to calculate how much exp each option gives towards leveling
ruins the "mystery" of the game
I ask because, with the toggle, the people who like the mystery of the game can turn it off, and the people who want to know the level can have it on, which is a win-win. Also, it does keep Torn a bit unique, in a way. RPG games that have the EXP bar/gauge/whatever force you to have it. You aren't allowed to turn it off. The toggle would unique.
I understand the point Harley is trying to make.
If you really badly want to know, I'm reffering to my first post I made. Toggling your xp bar would make the weak of heart just turn it on occassionally defeating the mystery, whilst having to fly all the way to china would not make them go, cause it's such a long ass trip.
And I'm sure in the end they're happy they didn't know their progress.
I don't think it would be win-win. Because a toggle would still remove a part of the mystery is all about.
What about having the bar be removed once level 15 is reached for a player?
Wait, did someone call me?
Nope.
Power leveling (fast) can be accomplished by attacking and leaving players above your level, do the warehouse arson crime ocnsistently (fails increase as you approach the next level)just keep going, coupled with experience from all parts of the game.
Best of luck in the game, be sure to train consistently with Ecstacy or Xanax, join the army for job points (trade for stats) and train your stats balanced (even) as this is actually more important for your overall success in the game, and attacking/ defending.
Use Hanks power leveling guides in the Guides section of the forums for detailed step by step instructions at all levels. https://www.torn.com/forums.php#!p=threads&f=61&t=15927057&b=0&a=0
