Is there any fees that have to be paid or what is the good and the bad of starting your own faction. Still new to the game and not sure if starting one is a good idea being a low level or would it be more beneficial to join one? Any info helps or links. Thanks!

Worst thing about starting a faction is you end up in the "Faction Leader's Club" which tends to be broad mix of sociopaths, sadists, individuals with various personality disorders, manipulators, etc; and then you start having to interact with them. … - mug [553318] Committee

can second this for you, it is a lot of work running a faction and will take up a lot of your time organizing wars and fillers and working your ass off to fund it, and recruiting all while trying … - Penicillin [1517799] Committee

Great feedback to a noob question in this thread. This should become a sticky.
Is there any fees that have to be paid or what is the good and the bad of starting your own faction. Still new to the game and not sure if starting one is a good idea being a low level or would it be more beneficial to join one? Any info helps or links. Thanks!
It would be more beneficial to join one, there's tons of factions out there with very good specials etc. Building your own would prohibit your early gameplay and cost you a lot of money you could use for training / growing your account and such.
I suggest reading up on factions on the wiki or in the forum guides to get to know all said specials and advantages of joining one vs building your own.
right now? I would say starting your own faction is a terrible idea.
You can join a faction that's willing to accept a newbie and teach you the ropes of being a faction member (ie. how to chain & help you become more financially stable), or you can learn more about the game first, before joining a faction. A young player in a faction gets picked on a lot.
just dont start one, you will spend your entire time in hospital and out of meds and complain about it
Worst thing about starting a faction is you end up in the "Faction Leader's Club" which tends to be broad mix of sociopaths, sadists, individuals with various personality disorders, manipulators, etc; and then you start having to interact with them.
Then there's the members, some of them you have to plead, threaten, bribe, blackmail & manipulate and develop other skills, in order to get them to chain effectively. They also have a tendency to mysteriously lose the ability to comprehend the simplest message or order.
You also need deep pockets in order to finance the running of a faction.
Maybe after the territories update, running a small faction may be easier than under this present system.
This is pretty accurate haha. I know my faction Sons Of The Apocalypse is like a full time job. I was fortunate to find members that donate items and money to the faction to help it grow. But that almost never happens when you are a small faction like us.
But yeah managing members is a hassle, they either dont listen to the rules laid out by the faction and then when they kicked for inactivity or not following the rules they just go off on you like a little kid who got put in timeout.
But you are definitely pretty much spot in with this for the most part. He should definitepy listen to this post and really everyone else and either join a faction to learn the ropes or just avoid a faction all together until he is me experienced.
can second this for you, it is a lot of work running a faction and will take up a lot of your time organizing wars and fillers and working your ass off to fund it, and recruiting all while trying to keep many different minded people happy and pleased.
And money In a faction i ran for 2 years that i got rid of recently funding every war session in those 2 years ran me a total of 40 billion in war supplies, faction armoury supplies meds, armors, yada yada.
Start you own new faction, or better to buy one fom the thread above with all factions upgrades and specials already bought. The only fee there is, is the fee to start the new faction 5m+,plus any faction size upgrades/ special upgrades/ + operating costs. Be sure also to join a 10* company or join the Army, save, and trade Army points for defense statistics.
It is best to join a great faction at your level, if you have the opportunity, to learn the game and benefit from others knowledge and resources, to learn faction chaining and to most importantly train your stats balanced. Best of luck in the game.
Join a faction for now.
In the future, when you have built your character and made sufficient money and friends in the game, think of making your own. :)
I agree with all, except the last paragraph. Somehow, I doubt that adding an extra layer of warfare to the system will make things easier....
Wow, this is pretty brutal but you're definitely right.
Haven't read something this brutally honest on the forums, yet.

You would be better off spending the money on a couple donator packs...
But if you do choose to start a faction, I would stay low key, not post about it in the forums, and recruit by mail only.... The spotlight will just attract wars for you.
Kinda the blind leading the blind on here. Factions war. It's what we do. Everyone, including me, has a reason why they are responding that would benefit them in some way.
Maybe they want a noob faction for fillers. Maybe now that territories are actually rolling out they just want one less nuisance.
So do you take the red pill or the blue pill?
Dont start a brand new faction! There is a big faction change coming and there are a LOT of frightened little mice who play this game who want to sell their faction fast. So buy a cheap one with upgrades from a little mouse!
Lol
The last thing you want to do is start a faction from nothing. Its not as simple as starting a faction and having loads of players want to join you. You need to entice people and the only way to do that is with a substantial financed backing. The reason bigger factions don't need to offer anything is because they have enough upgrades that people want to benefit from.
My advice to you would be to join an already established one with 4/5 members minimum.
I would say the last thing you'd want to do is spend a ton of $ on an empty shell with the intent to entice people rather then build your own from scratch.
Worst thing you could do as a faction is allow toxic people in. Like for example NawtyAli, bitwa, or someone thats toxic like them. If you follow that you will be rank 1 like Zurichtorn.
OP should join AOW, be in hosp 24/7, then decide if factions are good.
