A lot of time was spent by the committee on stealth values. For certain, they are not 100% perfect, primarily because when you assign values, it is subjective. Keep in mind you are also averaging several factors together to come up with a single number. So, arguing that weapon X is louder than weapon Y does not tell the whole story. There are a few gun nuts on the committee who argued about various aspects of this update and the weapon mods. Just accept the values and move on. Various values are assigned to weapons already and we just accept those.
The overall goal was to make stealth a relevant part of the game again.
Do announcements come before or after they implement it? If they implemented it before they announced it, then that would explain a few things. Otherwise it must be a coincidence.
I am not whining about it dear. Just saying it makes no sense. Sure values does matter, not sure how many people wish to sport a sling shot to get the extra advantage. People are free to discuss changes. Like I said I am looking forward to the change and how is it going to affect my pathetic dex.
I never considered stealth a part of the game personally. Not sure why anyone would.
Damn, Look at the prices of those Motorcycle Helmets shooting up, Managed to scoop one up at 76m a few minutes after the announcement, now they're already 119m.
I'm really happy with this change though, it opens up a completely different playstyle where you can focus as much on stealth as you want even to the point where you get massive damage decreases, really looking forward to what attachements will do aswell!
"We will of course be making continuous changes to this over the next few weeks as we monitor statistics and gauge feedback."
I will accept ludicrous values once it is done and over with. Until then all of us should not just "accept it", but post our constructive criticism to further improve the game.
The weapons stealth value isnt the only thing at play for determining if one is to stealth or not, you're not seeing the whole picture. Maybe your weak point in stealth is your weapon of choice, but you've got plenty of other areas to try and bring it up higher. Such as dexterity, face mask(this also includes clothing items just look at a few of the items that you can wear on your face, bandana is a cheap option), stealth merits, how many turns are in the fight, temp weapons as well as company/education bonuses.
Granted sure not everyone is going to see the values assigned to each individual weapon as accurate, but you've got 7 other areas to make up for that one weakness. I doubt you've gotten to test out stealthiness completely? The update has only been live for four hours. I would give it some time and play around with it or wait for others to do just that.
I don't agree, kodachi swords are quite large, so very hard to hide, which is also a factor to hold in account if you want to stealth. If you hold a massive sword on the street that would look quite suspicious, no? Whilst a flare gun is very small, easy to hide, but does make more sound / light.
Exactly. What constitutes as stealth is incredibly subjective. So what we've done is taken the opinion of a whole bunch of people (the committee) and averaged it all out to get the stealth values we see now.
As mentioned, it's not just based on 'how close up you are', or 'how noisy it is', it's like 12 different things all smushed together to get a final value that takes every possible view in to account. It took months to achieve this, and a whole load of spreadsheets, formulas and calculations until everyone could finally agree on it. When you realise that stealth isn't just one thing, but a whole bunch of things, the values begin to make sense.
This all just seams backwards to me, if i'm 300 yards away shooting you with an riffle i'm more likely to be identified than if i walk up to you with a knife and stab you 10 times? And this took 6 months to come up with? Now i really understand why other updates take years to finish.
