To those of us out there who enjoy challenging debates and questions about the meaning and substance of life, i welcome you.

I would like to hold a competition for the most outspoken and unorthodox minds out there.

Simply state...what do you feel is the meaning of life?

After 1 week or so from today I will give $50,000,000 to the best philosopher.

Meaning of life?

Simple.

To pass on your genetic material thus ensuring your species continues to exist.

Anything else we do between conception and death is just filling time or humans over thinking things.

that bit in between is what our dna is built upon (along with all previous experiences down the genetic line).

The meaning of life is to experience happiness, pleasure or contentment. When you no longer feel content, life no longer has meaning.

Life is not a simple term that we can write about. Certain facts like continuation of humanity, is a part of that and is true. But the reason for us human to be here is more than that. For some,its about Making the world a better place to live in, while others it's simply about living and enjoying the joyous occasions.
So when we say, the true meaning of life, we actually are left with no answer. It is on us,to bring it to our life.

There are two optimal reasons to live: to pursue personal happiness and/or the happiness of others. Anything else isn't true living.

There are two reasons to pursue these: to remember and/or to be remembered. For many who bellieve there is nothing after death, their only hope for immortality is an important spot in history (to be remembered forever), either as the greatest tyrant or most monumental leader of your era.

But it's not just about happiness.... It's about making the world in either your image or the image of your deity.

And with this, ideally, comes the betterment of the world, through universally-understood principles of *right* and *wrong* - starting with yourself.

This seems like a very positive view, but is that whole encompassing? Can we only live with love and happiness?

Isn't happiness only happiness in contrast to sadness? Therefore it seems to me that the pursuit of the Utopian world, that is to say, the perfect world is futile.

Not sure General Discussion is the place for this, since it is not a discussion about Torn, unless you mean: "the meaning of Torn life," in which case there is a lot of debate between the Torn philosophers, and many polls to see the popular opinion.

Some would say the meaning of Torn life is to become as rich of a player as you can, and to attempt to be the richest. Others argue it is to have the best stats in order to beat any player. Many faction enthusiasts chime in that the meaning is simply to be in the best faction - some of these even enjoy the hatred from other factions, knowing that it is simply envy of their greatness.

Others in Torn enjoy the simple life. They say the purpose is just to enjoy oneself and make friends here. Maybe go play some games in the F&G forum (where this thread might be better suited with a prize and all), or maybe go play in the casino. These people usually enjoy conversing with their faction mates and in-game friends, or maybe talking about the Ms. Torn boobies on the forums.

So, I say to ye, thou shalt not name merely a single meaning to life, but accept that the meaning must change, depending on the eyes through which thou whilst experiencing life, and yet we ought to continue searching for this meaning nonetheless.

Crush your enemies.

What i am really looking for are people who feel the way i do, or even differently but enjoy expressing such differences. The greatest study in life, in my opinion, is the study of life.
