Sorry to create another thread about the competiton, but had to share my toughts.
First off, thanks Ched and other people make it happen. Sure some people might think it was a bit unfair some teams dropped due to a lag, but lets be honest now, considering how much time and effort are admins putting into territorries(probably in crimes and drugs 2.0), we have to be thankful for having new and exciting competition.
Secondly, we got chance to spend some time with some of our friends that are not in the same faction, and well, we all know how much is awesome to make plans and stuff with people we like. We also got chance to meet new and interesting people we usually woulnd't meet.
Then, there are "famous" tornians which might seem unreachable other way.
I believe this was big test for torn. Sure servers might have failed a bit, but no one probably expected this many people to attack at the same time. Probably even more people than that Scrooge event we had.
Well, just wanted to say that. Thanks Ched, staff and community.
Yeah I largely agree to your points, it's nice to have a new competition despite the new updates we're awaiting. As, lets be honest, Torn isn't that big of a game financially, so it's normal that things are a bit slower.
It also happened some people found it amusing to DDOS just as the competition was happening.. Means there's some people out there who seriously need to reconsider what they're doing with their lives if they think DDos'ing torn to further their own gains is appropriate..
Perhaps to watch all the salt it causes with the teams heavily participating, yes that's quite funny I agree. But it's not funny if you view it from a developers point of view. []
