Introduction

This guide is not guaranteed to get you Stock Analyst, I made this so you know how you can drastically improve your chances at getting this merit!

Made this thread in the faction forums, but decided to also copy it to the public forums. Here I'll try and give you a small explanation on stock analyst and how to get. However be warned as this guide will usually work out, but there are cases in which it doesn't due to the randomness of the award. I'll also include the Moneybags award for the sake of including every award related to stocks.

• What is Stock analyst?

Stock analyst is an honour bar you get by actively stock trading. It's one of the harder merits to get because there's believed to very little to no system to it. Although , lately, I seem to have developed a system which seems to work for everyone who has tried it so far (Aside from Bogie in his past ventures).

• What is Moneybags?

Moneybags is the easier award to get from stock trading. All you have to do is buy a stock and sell it with some profit.

Walkthrough

• How to get Stock Analyst

I'll try to explain how to get it to the best of my capabilities.

First, what do you need before trying to go for this merit? I'd suggest having at least a pool of 150m in-game dollars to play with (Can also be more, if you do less you might make it risky) and a lot of activity will also be required.

Now on to the actual walkthrough, it's actually really simple. All you have to do is split your pool up in a whole bunch of little blocks ranging from 500k per block all the way up to 50m per block. Buy different stocks, preferably stocks that are on the rise and could give you a very quick sell, because it is key that the stocks you buy are sold within a day again. As you want to maximize the amount of transactions you do. You will have to do roughly 5-10 stock transactions as a minimum on a daily basis, both selling and buying, the more transactions you do the faster you should get it. After starting with this method, just continue to do so until you get the merit, this could take up to 3 weeks or even a month.

Be warned though as it could possibly take even longer, as I have come to believe the merit works much like a combination of the 'forgiveness' (praying on a daily basis for roughly 2 weeks) one and the 'vampire'(random chance when using a blood bag) one. Now, what do I mean by that? Basically, it means that you can unlock the award randomly after reaching a certain requirement ( x stock transactions a day for x days). Although the chances of not getting it must be pretty low after a month, everyone who has tried this long enough has since gotten it.

• How to get moneybags.

This is the easier of two merits to do. All you have to do is buy a stock and sell it again with some profit.

I got mine in 10 days with just 5m. I bought and sold randomly around 10 stocks a day.

I literally think it's like the forgiven honour, buy and sell a stock once a day for x days.

One thing that still makes me question that though is the fact that players (including myself) got the stock analyst award automatically when the new awards / honours system was rolled out.

Edit: by automatically I mean the honour was there at the first login after the update was pushed out, along with a bunch of other honours that had been earned for other things.

I did not follow your technique; I made my own (which was faster, too). :P

Just earned this merit today.

Early on I was buying/selling 1.3m blocks of 5 stocks per day. Was about 2 weeks in on doing this repeatedly about 1-2 times a day. If it sold I re-bought that stock regardless of its forcast.

Past 3 days I just started buying 1.3m of every stock I did not own (even TCSE) then immediately listing it to sell. Ended up being about 20 stocks and then I got the award while I was doing my usually morning pattern of buying of 1.3m stock today.

Not sure what triggers it, but frankly don't care as now I am done with this annoying award [:tongue:]

I just got it today, and didn't sell stocks every single day recently. I probably did 1000+ transactions over the past few months to get it though.

It did trigger after logging in and buying $100m worth of shares. I think that's just what makes the Award link show up tho, not the actual trigger.

I started working on it about 9 or 10 weeks ago, got it today.

I was already doing some stock investing, and continued. But I also started buying and immediatly relisting for sale, every day, a minimum of twice a day. Mostly my goal was "Even if you forget to do it once, you'll always have done it at least once a day". And I figured extra wouldn't hurt, so sometimes I did this three or four times a day.

The "this" part was buying 2,222 shares (mostly because it's fairly cheap and easy to type) of every stock I didn't already have which were showing that they had a profit on the last tick. I didn't look at long term, forecast, or anything else. If the price was showing it went up on the last tick, and I didn't already own it, I bought. (And stock blocks I have didn't count as a stock I already had. So if those went up the last tick, I bought 2222 shares.) Once I bought them all, I'd either immediately relist, or wait 15-30 minutes and then list them for sale.

It did it shortly after I did a round of buying. Nothing had sold for several hours, so the buying must have been what set it off.

Just a quick correction: The moneybags is simply for putting 100 Million worth of stock up for sale in the stock market. You don't even have to sell it. Just put it up for sale and then remove it again and you will get the honor.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't even have to be 100m, if I remember correct I just bought a few stocks back when and sold them again a few ticks after.

how long exactly the stocks should be put on sale? i did it with two different blocks with cost about 70mill each. that's 140mill in total. i put it to sale, and the remove it back, still no honor bar is triggered. any preferences or details on how you do it?
