Now I was looking through all this (I have to sleep you know...) and this stood out: "what goes on in staff stays in staff". That is the most secretive thing you could have possibly said. What in sam hell could be justifiable to hide for the public eye? I don't think there really is anything that has any justification to hide besides the obvious...you know, passwords and shit. Not someones unlikely accident of accessing 14 accounts.

The thing that itches with me is that the phisher accessing the accounts the staffer in question retrieved was good friends with her... Seems like an odd coincidence to make 14 identical mistakes as a well trained staffer (I assume after being retrained 4 times you are supposed to be well trained).

From the phisher's profile:

Divalicious - Honestly one of the nicest and most respectful staff members out there. I have been in trouble a few times, yet she is one of the few who actually listens to what I have to say. Very nice to talk to, have a joke with and always there to help, no matter how dumb of a question I ask her :P Truly one of the very few staff members you can be open to.

I think that this is a very important detail in this case that is completely overseen in this thread and perhaps even overseen when the case was dealt with.

I'd like to add, before someone accuses staff for leaking this, I drew this conclusion myself based on previous forum posts in older threads. As it was well known this person was fedded for phishing, and the only big phisher in quite a while. Added to that, his fedding took place around the same time of said staffer's initial destaffing.

No, it won't make any difference to what the community thinks. If you cannot do your job properly after multiple retrains (again, not just on verifications, on the whole job), it would be common sense to step away from the thing you absolutely cannot do. By handling something extremely important, such as account security, when you know you cannot do it you're helping people breach security of other's accounts. If someone "might not feel comfortable doing these" verifications the simple answer is DO NOT DO THEM. If the staff member did not feel comfortable doing them and kept away from them, they would not be in this position.

Whether or not this is malicious, and Chedburn himself is clearly not sure if it's malicious by his comments in this thread, this should be one reason why a staff member should not be staff. It's quite silly to think otherwise. Please look at this without bias and see it for what it is - someone who cannot do the job and therefore should just not be in that job.

I don't believe it, and neither does a large proportion of the community, after making this person staff again, particularly after a panel of what is essentially the staff member's friends voted them back in. This isn't improving staff processes whatsoever. Oh and btw, changing a job title does nothing at all!
Marc [24377]

After yesterday, I really have no idea how to read Ched. I was very clear in my notes that the person wasn't to be made staff again (along with ofc my notes about what happened). So now anything is possible, I see this jailing being reversed as well, yes. Another decision I will be extremely disappointed about if it does happen.
Marc [24377]

I have commented on this before in this thread.

The jailing happened because of incredibly clear cut black and white evidence.

The destaffing (not jailing) happened because it was unclear if it was intentional.

Please re-read my previous posts in this thread.

"You can never benefit from the knowledge you gain from being in the committee."

This one makes me lol. if it would work staff them members and them friends won`t get nice profit after West Side South Bank University stocks special was change. I relay don`t believe that someone boys them for 10 or 100b before update don`t have information about changes. So please don`t say that community and staff don`t use information them get.

Well I've spent 6-7 years in a staff team where Admins asked us to avoid public drama and that they would deal with staff issues privately rather than making a big song and dance of it by going public. I thought that worked quite well tbh. I mean why should staff issues be always made public. So the lynch mob can have their way? Meh.
Swatsicle [1593313]

I'm not saying they don't. I'm saying that it's the rule, and if you get found out, you get deleted. No taksies backsies.
critch [507888]

Clearly you weren't up to the job, hence you stepping down, Ched now seems to be reviewing some of the decisions you made and rightfully so, you may not like it but it's no longer anything to do with you

the fact that you are now creating threads about issues that were not public says a lot about you character, to me it's a clear breach of the rules and a feddable offense however Ched is allowing it again for the better future of the game with more transparency

i personally like the direction things seem to be going, more open, more transparent and most importantly, common sense

ive said many times before that perm deletion for anything that doesn't damage the games infastructure is a poor business model
Adrenalinas [1974447]

what personal info you give to tc? It is just yours email. For credit card info is something different, but if you use paypal acc I don`t think they can do something dramatically bad with that information.
Marc [24377]

I was enforcing the rules that Ched himself implemented when he created the committee, far before my time. If he didn't want that as a rule, he shouldn't have put that as a rule.

I was up to the job, and loved doing the job. I wasn't up to Ched changing his mind every five minutes and moaning about a situations which he created and that's why I stepped down.

Both decisions to destaff the staff member, and to fed Midknight were made within the rules that exist and fairly. Step away from all of your bias and you'll see that, as the majority of people did with Midknight and have done in this thread.

You want more transparency yet when someone creates a thread about the staff issues, you try to shut them up? The only information that I've provided that wasn't in the public domain is the verify issue and retrainings, both of which are a vital part of this issue. How am I supposed to raise an issue without mentioning those things? I've not revealed any specific information and I've not used any information to help me gain an advantage within the game, so your argument about this being a feddable offence is not really valid.

You all need to get over this mk thing. You all know he broke a rule and you know what the punishment for it was, you whined and got your db back from Marc and now you want to whine mk out of fed too.
Marc [24377]

Thankfully, no. PayPal and Amazon store card details securely and merchants only receive transaction details (such as amount paid, timestamp, transaction ID, email address and possibly billing address (depending on how it's set up)) in order to verify the transaction.
critch [507888]

I wouldn't read much into what most JFA members post in the forums, they pride themselves in trolling

i also doubt anyone other than ched could access credit card details, torn is a UK based comoany and therefore must comply with PCI compliance legislation, there should be no record of card details stored, these should be encrypted, if he isnt compliant then he would face a hefty financial penalty
critch [507888]

You also revealed information on the next mission account, A,and a did you not

as for Midknight, I'm not biased towards the decision because I know him, I've said it many times before his situation that it's a failing model, ban players permenantly for a first offence, especially one so trivial, Ched himself said he didn't agree with it yet you and the other admins wouldn't consider change

i also don't want to shut you up, it's interesting to read and quite amusing that by doing so your going against one of the very principles staff worked under in the previous regime

Ched and torn need to implement change for the benefit of the games future, if you or previous staff were resisting this then it's good that you've stepped down to allow the game to evolve

Marc clearly has a crush on this staff member that he can't stop talking about. Get over it bruh, you had a chance to help this game and you quit when you didn't get your way. Just seems like a way to get some attention after dropping the ball on the MK situation and throwing a hissy fit. Get over it, as far as im concerned that staff member did much more for this community than I saw you do. How is this thread productive at all?
