What do you guys think about a single charity that could take the place of welfare, planned parenthood, veteran's rights, and help stuff like world hunger and anything else that needs it? If you like the idea than please spread it to 10 other people.

I'd wonder how you're going to incite people to donate to it, especially in amounts equal to welfare services, without it resulting in a massive oligarchy or a totalitarian dictatorship.

Both of these are bad things.

EDIT

A massive organisation, full of bureaucracy, will always be forced to spend more money on staff than they can spare for the cause itself.
I support small charities and volunteer my time directly to them.

Welfare can't just depend on the kindness of others. Other people are not at all kind.

That's my two cents.

We already have a single mandatory charity organization that handles welfare, PP, and vet stuff...among other things. It's called the government.

Who says it needs to be a bureaucracy? I think it would actually be more of a community effort where people divide up the money to the necessary charities from their own homes, by people that actually like the idea. Plus you can skip right over bureaucracy with a to-do list.
CatHead [1581564]

Yup, nothing like a long series of to-do lists to skip over bureaucracy.

Many hands in the pot, there surely must be records of who is given what? How would you stop anyone from stealing?

I've got a great idea: Let's all live in a utopia!
TheLordofGoats [1997991]

A long series of lists is infinitely preferable to 500 pages of rules in the IRS book alone. The lists only need apply to the people dealing with the problems. We can wipe the rulebook clean and start over, basing everything off the constitution. The pre-amendment constitution.

It all goes into the same pot. You could just have a reception desk with a calculator that adds everything put into it and everything taken out. That rules out having it in someone's else but if this idea ever gets accepted they could just use whatever charity buildings there are that choose to change. And it doesn't need to be a nation wide thing either. You could just have a group of fifty.

It's just an idea though. I don't have all of the answers, i doubt i even have a quarter, so anyone who's interested should just spread it to their friends.

Who will determine who is eligible for money/assistance?

Who will hold/invest the money that is being held? This is a big one that people probably don't think about. The big charities don't have boxes of money just lying around waiting to be given out to someone. If invested properly a charity can pay it's own way but that seldom happens. People are basically selfish.

A reception desk with a calculator just isn't going to do it.

A large organization like Red Cross has thousands of people working for them.
