Committee abuse and punishment

How do you feel about the post Ched made about Commitee membership, abuse and punishment thereof?

Personally, I believe anyone abusing knowledge deserves a punishment and, obviously, must be removed from the Committee.

How do you feel about this? Kindly answer not about single incidents or cases or individuals, but in general.

Also, I am thrilled about the openess, transparency and vuknerability that Ched has shown with his post.. a true statesman!

If staff can give away accounts, who cares about a committee member selling a mask for 300m?

Someone who abuses their power should get a lengthy sentence and/or huge networth removal for destroying committee trust - committee is pretty much looked at in a shitty way now with how easy it is to abuse inside information - if people are getting away with such things then what is the point of even having a committee that handles such private matters in the first place when abusing that info gets you no significant punishment...

EDIT: i don't think MK should have been deleted but i do think he should stay in fed for a good amount of time.

yeah, if committee members can make billions of of inside stock info, who cares about accounts and/or a mask??

Does a crime become okay when there are bigger crimes? Please stay on topic. This is about Committee, not staff.

Absolutely genuinely gobsmacked by this. There was no grey area at all. The rule was "If you abuse your position for personal/friends gain, you get deleted." That's exactly what happened, and what should continue to happen. He agreed to that rule.

There's no point in me discussing this further, I've spent upwards of 30 hours talking to Ched about this and some more to Clansy. This is my only comment I'll make in this thread because there's no point in talking about it, he's made up his mind and has no-one to answer to now.

It's a surprise to no one that this is came down. I question whether Ched would make a good community manager, but at this point I also question the sanity of anyone else that accepts the job.

I like the change of treating every matter of abuse individually. Practical torn death sentence seems a bit extreme since the difference in abuse of power comes in many ways (aka making billions of cash vs selling a mask vs (accidentally) telling a friend about upcoming ideas). This is way more professional in my opinion and my respect for Ched has very much increased.

Yet people were screaming about treating things exactly the same.

I wonder how they'll feel now...

How do you feel, regardless of any existing rules, how the Committee should be managed?

Committee members should be removed from the committee if they are found to break any of the rules they agreed to at the beginning. To me the committee largely seems like a group of players who joined to get insider knowledge, I'm sure that's how it appears to many others as well.

For the first time last week I saw a committee member offering to pass on the concerns of regular players to the committee forum, surely that should be happening all the time? I wonder whether it does. Frankly I have no faith in the player committee, the way the territories beta went made it feel like the committee was completely useless in brainstorming the idea.

The speed at which updates come out makes it almost worthless - what's the point in running these things by a committee for them to take two years later to be brought online. It gives this group of players the chance to plan how best to utilise the feature in the future. Maybe this isn't the case, but I for one think it is, and that is surely indicative of a problem in how the committee is perceived.

I would propose that the committee be shaken up or even changed each year or every two years. Maybe elections, but at the very least a review of the members.

We vote for a new council in the real world, in the UK anyway, every year. Why should the group of players that represents us be given lifetime representative rights. As many people have said in the staffing issue thread, people change over time and as such so should the committee.

Glad to see he is getting his account back but 60 days is a joke. I got two years fed for an (admittedly) inappropriate joke and he gets 60 days for abusing his position?

Good move by Ched, I know I will seem biased as I'm SA and was also one of the people campaigning to free Midknight but it's the correct and smart move

moving forward we now all know that committee abuse is instant 999 days pending review and final decision by Ched

there can be no calls for favouritism and/or corruption because Ched doesn't play the game therefore it will always be neutral

This is exactly what's been needed for some time, consistency and clarity

He's been in fed for about 40 days or so already so will be over 3 months in total, I would say that's about right for the crime

Ched what on earth you're planning for this game is a joke, you fedded kyle8048 because he told you with hard facts your game was dying so you fedded him over a year, and now you do this?

but hey, glad to know that leaks are perfectly fine, it's a good precedent to know that and for those in the committee to know that.
