Faction "Capacity Upgrade" costs respect now?

When faction upgrades came out I thought "Great, I'm glad Ched and his team have came up with a new way to freshen up factions!"

Little did I know, a sizable portion of my faction's respect had been used up when the update rolled out.

So I decided to take a turn onto Torn wiki avenue to find this:
StructureHoldsCost
Shed5 Members$1,000 x Current Number of Factions in the Game.
Barn10 Members$300,000
Small Warehouse15 Members$700,000
Large Warehouse20 Members$3,000,000
Hanger30 Members$8,000,000
Office Block50 Members$30,000,000
Underground Bunker75 Members$70,000,000
Abandoned Theatre100 Members$115,000,000
I see here that factions never used to cost respect for member capacity. I also see here that Torn Wiki is no longer up to date (Captain obvious moment there ;P )

So, I waltz on back to faction boulevard and realize that member capacity requires a HUGE amount of respect.

As you can tell, nearly 20,000 respect (11,000 purely for capacity upgrades) has been used up. (Without my consent or right to remove this pointless upgrade)

If you are referring to this post

then yes, Philistine [475622] Helper....

I did, in fact, read the literature. All (of the literature) is completely irrelevant to the discussion above unless you can find otherwise.

Whatever upgrade you had before the new system was released was given back to you in the form of respect and then used to upgrade capacity to the same level you used to have...

You didn't lose or gain anything

Edit: you should see similar events in your faction log:
  • 1/172:04:38 PM Itsi Bitsi Bikini has been credited with 139,223 respect to cover its core upgrades in the tree
  • 17/01/172:04:38 PM Itsi Bitsi Bikini has been credited with 1,366,400 respect for its old special

All upgrades within the faction trees can be unlocked by assigning respect to them. This respect is not spent - your faction keeps all of its respect - your leader simply designates it to the upgrades.

Upgrades within the tree core CANNOT be reset ever. Once you assign respect to them, they are set in stone and cannot be undone. It is very important that you choose these carefully.n

So he warned everyone it would be respect based, this shouldn't be news. It was on the Bulletin Board.

If you want to ask for changes, the Suggestion Box is where you need to be, no Faction Discussion. Unless your goal is just to gauge opinions with no desire for change.

i mean, that's really not a lot of respect. i'm a little disappointed that i myself couldn't have used that respect on a different perk. but again, it really wasn't all that much respect. a drop in the bucket.

thanks for replies everyone, these upgrades were made prior to the update, apologies if that wasn't clear in the OP.

My capacity upgrades were made long ago, when member size costed money instead of respect. I am not able to refund any of the respect that was used for capacity upgrades. Prefereably I would want the least size available seeing as I have two members including myself.
Pizza [576690]

Good point, though 11,000 could be worth 3 steadfast upgrades. for my small faction, that's actually quite a bit
Philistine [475622]

Again, I would highly recommend making a suggestion topic about this and going for 100 uprates, at that point the development team will take a look and weigh in.
Franky [1529693]

No, you won't get refunded. You did the upgrade before and were given respect in compensation after the release which was automatically used to increase the capacity to the same you had
BFM [1455642]

You had the capacity upgrades before and obviously didn't need them. Maybe try recruiting some new faction members to help build up respect so you can work towards more upgrades.

plus that 20,000 respect ched gave extra to your faction automatically went to upgrade your same core upgrades you had before. If ched didn't want to give us those free or equivalent core upgrades then he wouldn't of and we would of not got the extra respect as well so you would still be at the same respect you have now.

Nothing gained or Nothing lost!

I see after about two weeks of this thread being active, I was the only vote for "either way is fine"

Very interesting! Thanks for your guys' input

Respect is to be earned. My faction doesnt have much but we only warred for about a year but you obviously have barely warred at all.

You can only gain so much respect clicking organised crimes.

To actually have respect to spend in any great amounts you do have to earn it im afraid.
