Committee abuse?

Hello, I'm not really sure where to post this... Perhaps General discussion would generate more drama so feel free to move it there. :P This isn't a bug in any way, but hopefully you'll agree that it is an issue.

I was on the committee briefly when respo first came out. I was a writer for the paper and was also put on committee and was allowed to help give my opinions and help out there too. It was all good and fun.

Those who beta tested respo were given respo hoodies. I remember at the time that we were told not to sell them or trade them since they were just a little award to thank us for testing out respo. I was more than happy with that.

Recently, after all the drama with the mask, I saw a hoodie in the auction house. I reported the player that was selling it because it was for a significant amount of money and I thought someone, somewhere along the line had broken the 'do not trade this item' deal.

As you can see from the report, whoever this staff member is (it's dumb they're anon btw- they're not held to account, close reports early and in my experience at least never give a satisfying answer) disagreed with me that it was a rule we shouldn't trade them. I thought 'fair enough' and carried on with my business, no problems.

Today I was stocking up my bazaar emptying out all the trash in my items and look what I find!

So this hoodie has since become untradable...

I thought this was interesting, so I messaged the fella who had it in the auction house to see if it was his or to see if anything had come of him selling it.

And boom. 1.4b.

So potentially, some people in the committee (at least a few years ago) sold their special items that we weren't allowed to sell and made almost a billion and a half in profit. Since then, the item has become untradable. I'm sure that SA would agree that whoever it was that traded this item (unless it was MidKnight, which would be ****ing hilarious) should probably face some kind of ceonsequences or that the whole thing needs to be looked into a little.

On a personal level, I set up a thread yesterday looking for buyers for this item since it was legal to sell according to the player report. I respect the fact that it's not and am happy to just keep hold of it. I just think it's bullshit how this has all been swept quietly under the rug while MidKnight had his name dragged through mud for months for a similar infraction.

My 2c..... I sold mine years ago. We were allowed to (at the time).

I've just searched through all my messages from -Clansdancer and can't find any mention of the item. Perhaps the post was in the forum.

I definitely remember being told not to trade it (and the fact that it's become untradable now would probably back that up.)

If that is the case there is some bs going on.

Wouldn't it be treated as a staff item?

They can't sell them but can trade them for free?

If people were instructed not to trade them then selling them seems like it should've been off limits as well. It would basically seem like they weren't meant to be profited off of or given to others.

Just tested the trade idea and nope, can't even trade it away. It's just quite odd for them to have changed the item if it wasn't a rule before hand.

Like I said before in 5 years those rules have only been enforced once and that was to fed me. People can say what they want about me, I know the truth.

The change of this item, though, was definitely after your fedding. The precedent that should have been set with you was just swept under the carpet.

There was no precedent, I was singled out. If that is not plain as day by the way this and things in the past have been handled, people truly are blind to what's right in front of them.

I actually sold this item to the player you made a report on I purchased it from a staff member in JFK who was advertising it for a while.

Nothing was said to me by him or anyone else about not being able to buy/sell it my guess is it was allowed to be sold at the time I purchased.

I don't think anyone would blame you in this scenario.

I'm going mad trying to find where it was written that we shouldn't trade them. I can't find it at all. My bet is that there is a thread in the committee forum which is there from when we were given them. I don't know how I can confirm this though.

Perhaps I'm going mad, but why is the item untradable now when people (Staff, no less. Two including Fluffy) made a lot from them in the past? Tinfoil hats at the ready but something about this definitely doesn't sit right, especially with ol' MidKnight up there and what he's been through in the past few months.

I don't think there any issue though it definitely been changed recently but I seen a few sell since I came to torn so if they wasn't allowed to be sold at the time sure staff would have removed them a while back from the market or taken the item as I know they do on certain staff collectibles if sold wrongly.

Just to be clear, I know you're joking but Achilleus has done nothing wrong. Potentially no one has done anything wrong...

I just remember being told very clearly that these items were a thank you for being a part of the beta testing of RESPO and being on the committee at that time. They weren't intended as a billion dollar handshake. They were something we could keep in our display cases (and after a while, we could wear) to show that we had helped. It does seem unfair to me that some people have profited by large sums of money, especially considering that now the item has become untradable.

(Again, I realise your post is sarcastic just wanted to make my point clear.)

I was on the committee at the time these were given out, all committee and staff members are allowed to sell this.

It's only staff that are unable to sell their unique items and items such as the admin portrait, christmas ornaments.

Right, thanks Ched. Can you confirm that it was tradable from the off then? I don't know why I remember being told not to so clearly...

Edit: I don't mean 'tradable' in this new sense. I mean we had permission to trade it.
