total distance
If you're trying to improve your skill, you need to do lots of long 100 lap races.
But yes, it does get more difficult to gain driver skill as your skill level goes up.
Hmm, I once did a 100 lap race, and got like 0.01 points only :/ Totally not worth it. I had below 5 skill.
It rounds the number you see. With less than 10 skill, it shows two digits past the decimal. (like 5.47 for instance.) Above 10 skill, it only shows 1 digit. (12.7 for instance.) You gain skill every race, and more gains for longer races, but the amount you gain won't always be enough to show up after rounding, and the higher your skill, the less you gain on any given race.
Doing official races gives me more driver skill than those 100 lap custom races. And if I'm lucky, some racing points too.
It might have been the case that 100 lap custom races gave more exp earlier, but right now, It seems doing as many custom racers as possible is the preferable thing to do.
I feel this way too.
I always get 0.01 point from official races, and 100 lap races, also give me either 0.01 or 0.00 (this means less then 0.01 i guess).
Maybe i am doing something wrong. I would expect a 100 lap race to give me at least 4-5x the official race.
You have a long wait time and a very long race time with 100 laps. Seems better to spam the shorter ones and pick the best car you have.
Drive Skill: 20.5
You have 3174 racing points available. With 5 cars maxed out.

I found a balance of Official Races when you're active and 100 laps overnight/inactive to be a good balance and keep racing interesting. To be honest, through my (limited) testing, I've found 100 laps and officials give about the same DS over the same time.
Maybe Official races have a boost factored in to account for the long pre-race wait time?
I think it's mostly distance. And I think the fact that we can't see the full number, just the rounded version, effects the way people see things. You can be barely below the point where it would round up to the next number, do a short race (official or not) and have it go up. Then, while barely over that point, you do a 100 lap race, and see no change. You may have (and I suspect, would have) gained more during the 100 lap race, but depending on exactly what the number is, you may not be able to see it. The rounding throws it off.
It's certainly possible that custom races do give more skill for the same distance, but I've seen nothing to make me believe that.
wish we could know our skill in relation to the top, like the HOF stats but at the racetrack.
I'm 13.4 skill
