The $1,000,000,000 bounty which you claimed was involved in real-life fraud via donation payments. It's been deducted from your account. Thank you.
Without getting into how inappropriately this being by handled by staff. Without getting into how inconsistently this game administrated. If you are going to take from me money I do not have, as the bounty was split among several players, then the very least you can do is credit me for the amount of money that was mugged from from me after claiming the bounty and E we all used during the two attacks

Passing to Ched for consideration.
Discussion can go in GD thread.
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you were expecting? If someone makes real-life fraud against Torn and sends that money somewhere else, it's removed from the receiver. You expected us to individually contact and remove exact change from 20+ individual people that you in-turn sent to?
It's not our fault, it's not your fault, it's not the fault of the pensioner who's money was stolen. It is our position to simply reverse the transactions, that's what is expected, and that's what we did.
We can retrieve the money sent out easily, but someone mugged him after the bounty was claimed, why should he go out of pocket for that?
Two things are asked: reverse the money from the mug.
Reimburse the e lost from claiming a bounty. (And from the mugger)
No where in the post were you asked to trace 20 players money. Only the money from the mugger which we cannot reverse.
I personally don't think either is your responsibility, but a simple act to keep the player Base happy, especially after 24h of semi down time and confusion, neither of which again is your direct fault.
Thank you, though, for bringing torn up again.
Consider this: what if someone did this to a new player. The 22 million loss from the mug would be off putting. In fact it would almost be easier for a new player just to restart or outright quit the game if their account isn't too old. Imagine if they donated to the game and issued a charge back because of how that got handled. To a veteran player, okay sure 22 million isn't a big sting. But what about if more and more players start to create multiple accounts to bypass the charge back fed and deliberately mug the recipient to clear some of that illegal money to their own account? There has to be a better line than what you are drawing.
Note, I am not saying let them have the money, I'm saying remove the money, with the exception of the money mugged; which should be removed from the mugger giving those involved in the mugging 25 energy each.
Look at all the players who restart that suddenly have billions of dollars while under 30 days old. Sure, the bounty amount itself is suspicious, but could easily be explained by the bounty poster being careless and adding 3 too many 0's.
There are times that my keyboard sticks for example, and I press the same button 3+ times, to find out that the number of key presses I've done had actually passed through after a sort of delay. It is not unreasonable that someone would make that sort of a mistake carrying that much money on hand.
In short, the 22 million from the mugging should be returned to the victim [allowing them a net 0 cash lost], the energy credited back to those who were involved in the bounty and the mugging [resulting in 0 energy loss] and remove the 22 million from the mugger making it even.
The single most important issue here is the 22mill the mugger keeps, you did not address that
We don't ever generate money out of thin air, this is something we just never do.The only solution would be to remove the money from that person and credit it back to you, and then they're out of pocket..... Keeps going on and on.
Ched should go through the faction chatlog and search for the words "some noob", "legit", "billion", "Who placed it?"and "Who cares?" or varieties thereof.
See if they had a conversation about it being dodgy as **** in the first place and still deciding it was worth the risk (and now don't like it when the risk didn't pay off).
(Sorry Fluffy, discussion thread got graved.)
Actually if you had done this fast enough it would have ended at the mugger. You still didn't elaborate what you would do with a new player who would be financially ruined by getting mugged for that much, and acting quickly on something that may have been too good to be true.
