Genderless

I'm sure this has been suggested, but I can't find it.

SIMPLIFIED: Allow the option to not specify a sex, similar to prefer not to reveal location, age, name, etc

Can we be genderless? I'm pretty gender fluid in RL and I couldn't care less about my gender in the game. I'd happily switch back and forth between male or female, but honestly, can we just have an option to not specify a gender.

It's one of the most pointless options in our game, and I bet a significant amount of Torn players aren't displaying their true sex anyway.

Give us third-gender folk an option to go genderless in game please.

Gender-less doesn't exist.... I 100% support people who are male in a female body (or visa versa) but everything has a gender...it comes down to do you have a winky or a woo-woo. It is impossible to not have one of the other (or both in a hermaphrodite).

Saying that an RPG game (where yes you play a fictional male or female character) should follow PC rules is just absurd. That's like saying i want my character to be Black so he can start gang war...at what point do we stop.

To follow up/expand on two of VeteranDemon's response.

Firstly. There is absolutely no need to enact different genders, IRL there is two genders (yes I accept that there are some that claim to be gender fluid, however, I am not going to raise my personal concerns about that here). This is a text-based MMORPG, therefore you are role playing within this game. So role play as one flaming gender, if you want to switch it up on your profile from day-to-day then go you player settings and change it there. In fact, this game only has settings for sex which is a biological aspect, meaning your chromosome and hormonal profiles and internal and external sex organs not the characteristics of a persons personality.

Secondly, VeteranDemon makes a valid point in reference to your name, if you wanted to be gender fluid in Torn instead of going with the typical Tom Dick and Harry why not name yourself a similar version of it using only unisex names such as Taylor, Drew and Hayden

Why do you guys care so much about a feature that means so little and wouldn't be used by you or anyone else who has an issue with it. If it makes someone happy, and causes no problems, why do you give a shit?

Because people is tired of the whole debate. Feminazi, BLM, non-binary-don't-assume-my-gender, basically the whole "look at my suffering" and the claim of suffer is so mediocre you want to take them on a suffer-trip so they can see what shit is really like.

- Feminism started with a woman that wanted females to be identified as individuals/own person (instead of only part of their husband). Look at feminism today...
- Blacks were fighting to be allowed the same education, work and whatnot as whites, while facing punishment still holding their heads high. BLM chants "what do we want? dead cops! when do we want it? now!" without really addressing any issues... And when faced with the actual law, they scream racism.

The whole "my gender is coca-cola" suffering just don't make any sense, you can identify as whatever the hell you want, but there are only 2 biological genders among humans. The whole "my gender is whatever" movement does not even have any issues to solve, even from the beginning (like feminism and black movements had), they can get any job they want, they can take any education they want, and they can vote like anyone else.

Would it have an icon or just not display one?

Would having a "I'd prefer not to answer" button cause any harm? Wouldn't even need an icon, just have an option to remove the icon.

If it wouldn't cause any harm and it wouldn't be any hassle, why be so adamently against it?

"Option to remove" DoctorN gives the option to remove the gender from EVERYONE's profile for you personally. If you feel so adamantly, get onto Chrome, get DoctorN, and be the change ounwanna see in the world.



Otherwise, there's really no point in "genderless" in Torn, a crime game, which is fantasized. This game is not meant to directly mirror real life, and I hope it doesn't, I come here for an escape.

I would have a problem with it because Male and Female on this game is sex, not gender. The two are actually different like I explained in my earlier post. What next every straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans person needs to say which one they are or 'I prefer not to say'. NO, these 'labels' have f*** all to do with this game and therefore they are not and should not be a requirement. If you as a person wish to express which gender you feel that you are then you can do so on your own profile images. we do not need any further subsection of the human race, even in a roleplaying game.

This is and always will be a GAME, therefore, there is absolutely no need for the extreme SJW war here. Nowhere in this game does it include gender so no one is being excluded, in fact, everyone is being included because of the lack of the options. The moment you start to introduce these kinds of labels, that is the moment that you actually start to segregate people and the feeling of inclusion begins to devolve.

You may have noticed that there is no section where you chose the colour of your skin, Why? Well simple, the colour of your skin in an irrelevant factor when it comes to being able to interact with both the game system and other people. There for why should your individual preference of your gender affect how this game works or how you interact with others. If you feel that it is important for people to know your gender then you can do that on your own, there is no need for a system-wide update forcing everyone to identify themselves under this gender ruling.

You do not need to know what my sexuality is outside of this game to be able to have a genuine conversation with me just like I do not need to know whether you identify as a man, woman or even a f***ing helicopter.

To be fair, there seems to be some straw man stuff getting tossed around here. Nobody in this thread was asking for a million gender-related options or extensive extra systems that everyone would have to choose from, etc.

If they're going to make people display a sex, I don't see any harm in giving a "prefer not to say" option. Doesn't hurt the people not affected by it, doesn't seem likely to affect gameplay, and helps some people feel more comfortable. I'm not seeing a downside there. We have a prefer not to say option already when it comes to disclosing age, name, location, etc. In many places online, sex tends to fall into that category of optional-to-disclose as well, and not just for the benefit of the gender-fluid.

I don't see the problem with allowing other people to have "prefers not to answer" like jesus christ it's a ****ing game and what other people want to do does **** all on your own gameplay.

If people actually an issue you should look at yourself and ask why what someone else wants to do which has **** all impact on yourself is actually upsetting.

I'm not a fan of the direction of 100 odd spectrums genders which are becoming like moods but the option to not answer is extremely valid, i know a lot of females who would rather not deal with the manchildren, if it annoys you, you're likely that manchild.

you seem to miss the entire point of the thread, OP doesn't suggest there are more genders than female and male, they simply want a gender option to not display their real life gender, a completely valid thing to ask for.

So much butt hurt in one thread. Looks to me like some snowflakes need to keep torn as their little safe space, how ironic.
