The thing is; RealityShift was NEVER told he would definitely get a refund. He, and SupremeOverlord was told in the other thread, that it would either be refunded, or paid out as normal. Bookie staff investigated it, and because no-one bet afterwords, was paid out as normal. The bookie system is not a place you should store cash, and definitely not for a long time; when a bet is placed, assume it's lost.
I would actually like to hear something from Chedburn on this, but everything I've said is how it is.
I agree on the storing cash it's not really that smart but the issue still stands the bet said it had 21 hours left so had no panic to remove it should have been refunded..
no matter what way you look at it the match was underway as the 2nd bookie bet for the same match was still open for 20 + hours he would assume he had half a day safe to remove the bet but it still comes down to a staff error and instead of them fixing it they just push it under the rug and say tough shit..
First, Hsing mentioned above that he made/changed his bet after the match had already finished. Perhaps he's mistaken, but Logs should be triple-checked to make sure.
And ........ normally I'm on the same side as Staff on these things, but players should have every reason to expect that a Bet will close when the timer counts down to zero, not before. In Hsing's screenshot above it literally says "Betting will close in 15h .... ", not "Betting will close in 15h ... or when the actual match starts." What players do before the timer hits zero is up to them. Is it a perfect system? Heck no, but it's the system we have.
In the new Bookie system, maybe Ched will eliminate the Bookie Bank, make it so that bets are unchangeable. Until then, I think the Cancel/Delete policy needs to stay in place for all errors.

I do agree that players should be able to expect that the time displayed is correct, but (as the system isn't really meant as a bank), Bookie staff should treat these as actual bets - and either refund, or pay out - a Bulletin Board post would be nice to warn players that storing cash in the Bookies could result in a loss & to highlight the policies the Bookie staff have in place for each kind of case; but for now I think we all just need to wait until the new system is released - which should fix a lot of the current issues.

and i know things like that happened, i recently reported a mistake to Dexter and he fixed it about an Egyptian league football game, and he closed bet on time, luckily it was before the game started...
in other cases, bet is usually refunded, but this is a special case where they don't refund and they have a solid reason not to..

Conversely, if they are fine checking when bets change, they could also be respecting winning bets that were properly placed on mis-timed games. But, this is still rarely done.
When players do or don't bet isn't really an issue at hand.
The issue at hand is the inconsistency on how staff handle similar issues.
I agree. It seems to be very inconsistent and unfair to the ones shafted by it. I like the idea of an incorrect bet is deleted and refunded as the ground policy. I also think it's largely worth noting on the page about the timer being incorrect sometimes. I'm not into sports so I don't pay attention to when the game starts or stops. I base my bets off advice and reading about the teams match up. I then use the timer on the page as a guideline for my bet. I will change bets frequently as I hear news tips or feel like I'm low on cash and want to risk less. If the reverse happened and I won, I would still be making a bug report that I made extra money on a nonstandard procedure. Rules need to eye in place for this type of stuff. There shouldn't be grey areas in the rules of a game. Especially for people who pay real cash to play.
