so i was chatting to a german torn citizen about abortion, and she kept on saying a woman has the right to do whatever with their body, despite the fact that a pregnant woman was carrying an innocent helpless, defenceless baby inside her womb.

im a conservative to these matters and im heavily pro life, although i do believe a womans body is hers, there is an exception when it comes to aborting and hence killing an innocent unborn baby, and that exception is that the woman has NO RIGHT to kill an innocent unborn baby, even though the baby is jointly part of the woman during its period in the womb

here is a famous quote from Ronald Reagan

If it wasn't because of the mercy of my parents, I (being a accident...) wouldn't be here today. My opinion of such a matter is quite obvious. There would be exceptions, but those would be life or death scenarios and moral dilemmas.

Or someone could just keep it in their pants, take the pills, use a condom, keep track of the months, castrate themselves...to name a few options over vacuuming a baby or ripping its body apart...It's actually rather messed up and dehumanizing the methods it's gone about, to the point where I think the modern day death penalty (lethal injection usually) is more human then the procedure for a child that isn't even born.

I do not know your age, but I assume you are younger. Older you get, more accidents you experience in life...

Me and my wife had an accident. She fell pregnant, not planned. We had a small house and her son from her first marriage had moved in with us. We had no room, and could not afford to lose a salary...

We sat and had the conversation, one of the hardest we ever had. We decided to go with it and deal with any issues the years a head would throw at us. As fate had it, we lost the baby...

Making decisions that you have no experience of is easy, making it when you are looking it right in the face is a lot harder... []

touchy subject, both sides aren't pro with the idea of children dying.

The general rules of "after x week" seem about as far as you can be, there's a point where you've had the option for long enough and if you've left it to week 40 and decide "actually na" then I'd say no, at the same time if it's week 10 and you're like "na" then feel free. It's not good for either party and it's a serious subject with no definitive answer.

And this isn't mentioning shit like children who'll be disabled or rape children - it's really a huge and complex subject that a place like torn will never do well with.

you could have given the baby for adoption, instead of committing murder, also you shouldn't have sexual intercourse unless you are financially stable.

i am a 21 year old virgin male
DonWolfy [1087367]

its quite easy, the so called 'rape children' u mentioned can be given for adoption instead of being murdered, that is if you dont want the child. you can ask the community for help in rasisng the disabled children, or just work harder.
Sweeney_Todd [27468]

So you didn't actually read what I wrote then...

We had the conversation and decided to keep the baby. We lost it through natural causes...

Good job you didn't come out looking like an arsehole there... []

my issue with it has a lot to do with the inequity of the law. I realize laws are different everywhere, but here in the US its quite f'd up.

1. a 16 yr old girl does not need her parents permission to undergo a medical procedure yet if issues arise from the procedure her parents are legally required to deal with the financial ramifications as if they had a choice since the girl is a minor.

2. the father has no say or rights concerning an unborn child. none.

3. if a mother decides not to be a mother she aborts. if a father decides he doesn't want to be a father has no choice.

4. often young women/girls have no way of paying for the procedure and so the govt foots the bill (ie: everyone else) AND far too often it happens repeatedly with the same young woman/girl.

the list goes on quite a bit but I think those will make the point that while abortion is highly complex it needs some serious retooling in terms of how the law approaches it and the inequities that exist in its current form.

oh srry, i couldnt determine whether u aborted it or it died of natural sickness, so since this thread was about abortion, i falsely assumed it was abortion my bad.

I cannot imagine a situation where I would choose to have an abortion. In terms of my body and my life, I am not for abortion. I am 51 and still fertile, and although I wanted children I was never blessed. If I were to get pregnant now, it would freak me out. The chance that my child would have Downs or an issue with being on the spectrum would be extremely high. I would accept the consequences and figure out how to provide the most meaningful life for my child regardless of the possible deficits. I can say that, because I am blessed with being in a stable home with security.

That does not mean that I would eliminate the option of terminating a pregnancy from another woman. I am spiritual and believe in a loving God who will provide for every dilemma. That being said, my religious beliefs are not something I can push on other people. I do not have that right. It is easy for those who are in a safe and secure environment to say what is the best option. For the mother of 5 struggling to provide for her brood who finds herself pregnant with a 6th because her birth control failed, it's a different story. Ironically, abortions happen in all socio-economic levels, regardless of the ability to provide. It's not just those who feel unable to financially support a child who seek abortions. It's not just those without religion who do either. The decision to terminate pregnancies happens in all religions. Even those religions that are doctrinally opposed to abortion have active members who choose to get abortions. When one is desperate, one does what is necessary. Some call it murder. While the fetus is not viable out of the womb, it is not. Abortion is ending the possibility of a life. Without the mother's cooperation, the baby cannot survive. The choice of giving life is up to the mother. I am not for abortion, but I prefer that women have a medically safe option in a sanitary environment if she is making the choice to not go through with a pregnancy. It is NEVER an easy decision and it is always heartbreaking.

The thing that frustrates me the most is that in American society the onus of having sex is always on the woman. We still live in a society where women who choose to have several sexual partners is considered a slut, and the male is considered successful with women. The woman has all the responsibility and shame because she is left with outward signs when they are caught. The other thing that frustrates me is that right now families that rely on Planned Parenthood for birth control and cancer screening are in danger of losing these important health services because 3% of the budget of planned parenthood goes to provide abortions. If it was truly about protecting children and the family, then we would not be creating orphans of children and overly populated families by denying the services that detect one of the most prolific killers of women along with services that prevent pregnancies in the first place. The final thing that frustrates me is that there is this group of people who want to deny a woman the ability to terminate a pregnancy but once the child pops out, this same group does not want to provide financial assistance and healthcare for the child they would have FORCED the family to have! That is not pro life! that is pro pregnancy! True pro life is where you ensure the life the child has is healthy, secure, and hopefully happy.

TLDR I'm personally opposed to abortion for myself... I am in support of each individual woman making her own choice for her own body. Sex should either be something shameful for all parties, or no parties. If it's good for men to have many partners, then it's good for women as well.

which lasts less than a day and the recovery time a couple months in most situations. either having a child taken from your or being financially tagged lasts almost 20 yrs and often more. so you will have to forgive me if I don't weigh that as a valid argument.
