You're not alone on this and many people have trouble coping with this, just accept that to feel like this/ being in this mindstate is completely "normal" due to you own definition.

You have to decide what's best for you and keep/stick to that journey.

mmm, a bunch of 20 year olds being depressed. the sweet smell of growing pains.

the younger generations just keep getting sadder, and sadder. now we have to give you medication for your anxiety and depression, or you start doing stupid shit. depression isn't a mental disorder.

man the **** up cupcakes. life doesn't get better, you just get better with coping with life..

In fact, depression is a mental illness. I have an imbalance of hormones in my brain, which is a huge contributor to it. I would need medication to correct that. I feel as if you do not speak from experience, since you can't just man up. That isn't how it works. That is a very naive point of view.

But thanks for trying.

it's all in your head,

at the time you used your brain to type out a response to me, you wasn't depressed. you don't log into Torn or play Xbox to be depressed. there's things that you do in your life to "fill the void" of depression so to speak, that are enjoyable to you. it is only when you are left to your thoughts, that you feel depressed.

i know all about depression too well, but i started to understand that im the one that brought depression apon myself. so i asked myself, if i was so capable of making myself depressed, why couldn't i be able of making myself feel happy? so i conducted a experiment, and tried to live a day being happy. i didn't go about my day by being fake, but went about it being self positive. then i realized that the more days i challenged myself by being positive in life, the more i felt that i gained a lil more as to who i was, and who i would become.

every min that goes by, is a min that we can't go back to. the older we get, the quicker time speeds up for us. the anxiety of life starts to weigh in on one's shoulders, and people can fall into a vicious cycle and feel trapped. we are so caught up into the fast pace of life, that we never make time to really live, love, and play.

so i challenge you, and anyone who feels depressed to go just one day feeling that you have self worth, that you're unique, and that your passions and emotions help spin this world around. stand up for yourself and your feelings. allow yourself to channel your depression into drive. if you can just try it for one day, i promise you'll say "yanno, today was a good day".

im not saying it's easy, im saying it's worth it...

cry about it some more?

only person who can give you self help, is yourself. if you can't understand that, then you're just attention seeking with your depression, or wanting others just to feel sorry for you like some game you play with people emotionally..

but like you just typed "although calling people shit actually feels good and alleviates my depression"

it's just a ****ing game you play with others and yourself, that's all. like calling people shit makes you feel good..

"i hate my life, it's not fair, no one understands me, if don't get what i want, ill hurt myself, oh woe is me, yadda yadda bullshit..."

yeah, you just go sit in a corner and pout about it..

depression and anxiety has been around ever since humans developed their emotions cupcake. so to say "ohh, you just don't understand" is a line of bullshit. people just exploit it now for social acceptance.

think of it this way. out of all these help hotlines, and therapy groups that people have talked in about their depression, you would think that someone would come up with a speech or that magic word to comfort one's or everyone's depression. but there isn't. because no matter what they say, or how many times they try to boost your self esteem, you're still depressed. because it's your choice to stay that way..

you have people like me who will not pick you up, pat your bum, and coo to you anymore.

you're either going to buck up and start bringing positive things into your life, or wind up in a ditch with a needle in your arm because you felt sorry for yourself and couldn't cope with life.

do something about it..

edit: and what gets me, is that you have these images of your passion for the guitar on your profile, but if you really understood music or actually did play guitar, you would already understand that learning music gives a musician a feeling of achievement in the end. these basic fundamentals are used in life. if someone kept playing the guitar and kept learning, they start to get a lil better then what they were the day before. this goes for anything that someone gets good at by practice, hard work, and determination.

if you don't jump, you'll never know how to fly.

Alright now, boys, listen here. I've been suffering from depression and anxiety since about 10 years and let me tell you something:

Depression is not a choice. Why the hell would I ever choose to feel like I'm a completely worthless piece of sh*t and should go die. That's not a f*cking choice, that's an illness. That's why it's called a f*cking mental illness, because you're actually ill. Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in your brain draining you of your deserved happiness and energy. It immobilizes you, leaves you an unwashed, crying mess on the floor struggling to even eat or breathe.

And since it is a clinical illness there should be no shame in going to see a doctor for the needed medication and a therapist to learn to deal with this sh*t . And while it can be treated with medication and a supporting environment it cannot be cured. You learn to live with it and just continue on, suffering through the bad times and hopefully enjoying the good times.

Just remember whenever you're going through a depressed phase, that it's gonna pass and you'll be better soon. Also talk to people who support you, may sound simple, but it helps a lot.

Life isn't that bad. Although it may feel like it whilst being depressed

If you ever need anyone to talk to about anything you can message me. I'm not a psychiatrist but I'm a good listener :) and I have experienced depression personally and lived with other depressed people

Also there are non judgmental organisations you can contact here in England such as mind.co.uk

Life actually isn't that bad :) although it can feel like it when depressed

Are you serious about this "We're all just mindless consumers, just another sheep in the herd"-shit? You're a thinking, self-aware human being in a vast galaxy full of dust and fire and darkness and all you can think of is this trivial everyday-bullshit? You pay money to continue living and enjoy it as much as possible, watch movies you like, read books or travel through foreign countries and cities.

If you really think life is all about paying rent, visiting annoying relatives and trying to find a job you clearly haven't payed attention to your surroundings.

Life is full of colours, noises, scents, sensations and so much stuff you've never seen. The world is filled with so many things to experience that you literally won't be able to see or hear even half of it in your entire life.

I mean...what do you even have to lose?
