The truth behind Pink Power or...

How I learned to stop worrying and love the Karma farming Cathead.

Okay, so people are all up in arms, rah rah. Naturally I'm loving it cause forum fun, yay!

So, what's the real story behind Pink Power? Who orchestrated it, and why is it totally fair?

1. For those WAY out of the loop, Pink Power was available only to females last year, and Mountain men only to males. So this was a known factor to people that paid attention.

2. Other teams capped out on members last year at 1,000 even to the point that some became unable to join later on if they waited too long to select.

3. Pink Power had around 600 members last year and in fact never filled up.

4. Players had a 1/3 chance to get any given team, Male/Female ratio of Torn was NOT taken into consideration leading to this issue where Pink Power simply had a way way way smaller pool than anyone else and was unable to fill. Even then, many that had the option did not join.

So knowing this info let's break it down in a timeline.

1. Some factions want to stack into 1 team (big whoop, what's new, did you see Pirates last year? They did it, but got smoked round). This year factions have done much the same with 1/3 chance at joining team being faction dependent.

2. So what advantage did these factions joining Pink Power create? At the time none actually, the only reason to do this would be for a challenge, as even with the extra people Pink Power would be A. Very unlikely to fill, and B. a massive uphill battle.

3. Wait so people that did this were actually knowingly gimping themselves? Yes. I can't speak to the individual, but the ones joining were likely looking for a unique challenge with the underdogs. Keep in mind these are a lot of the same people that participate in the yearly 420 war which is temporary factions of top chainers that face off. The most organized community event in Torn.

4. What actually happened? Ched likely tweaekd the formula so just as many (or as close as possible) would have access to PP as any other team. No one actually knows for sure, but pretty much every female got the option. So instead of 1/3rd of us getting the option to join PP, pretty much all of us did.

5. Yes, that means we had no clue and somehow stacked a team when going in to help the underdogs. Not a "staff/committee" conspiracy.

6. So what now? Well, Ched resetting isn't unprecedented, but he's not on yet. That said, while it's an option, it's unlikely that he does it, and I personally am against it.

7. Why am I against it?

A. No malicious intent.

B. Legit GAMEPLAY drama rather than "so and so created another account/Marlon"

C. I don't believe PP is at an advantage anyways, this competition is inherently unstackable in my opinion. No matter how stacked a team is, they start out potentially 1-11.

D. I don't even think PP is that strong, the true beast factions weren't invited. A single faction like JFK/SA deciding to focus us in the early game means we're toast. In fact, there's not really many of us, people are just making a big stink. Those factions stacking 1/3rd onto a team will potentially be stronger than us depending on how selection goes. If anything, we're still the underdogs we thought we'd be at this point.

So why all the stink? 2 reasons.

1. Karma farmers like Cathead see an easy trip to 10,000 Karma. (he knows better, Marlon doesn't)

2. Many others didn't really think things through with a logical timeline. It's easy to get upset without stopping and going over what really happened.


So, end of the day, where do we stand? IDK, IDK if Pink Power even now has the capacity to fill up the roster, and really we don't know what things really look like until rosters are revealed. People are jumping the gun and in some cases saw an easy way to move focus away from their own teams.


Regardless, best of luck everyone! Don't let the usual crap stirring get you legitimately upset the way some seem to have.

You are a constant leak on the Committee and you need to go, as it is just so obvious now it is totally ridiculous, ( you try tkeep it all just between your friends and allies but to no availl) , turn in your mug... Ched this guy needs to go off the Committee!

I personally don't care that players decided to do this. I figured it was some sort of protest against the ridiculous rule that allowed only 'females' into the team last year. Besides, its fun to fight and compete with your friends, and there are plenty of strong participants that will ensure Pink Power are given a run for their money. PP will also be a major target, so doing what they've done probably won't work out all that well competition-wise, but again - FUN.

However... Karma-farmer? Glass houses, stones, etc..There are easier ways to rebut someone than making such weak comments.

Some were complaining about my shit stirring despite it being the usual shit stirring and having no basis in reality. We either will or wont when rosters get revealed either way IMO.

@Proxima, that's exactly what I did, I just happened to rebut it AND call him a Karma farmer at the same time. As I said, no one knew they were doing anything other than walking onto the weakest team as underdogs and as serious chainers looking for a challenge when this started. Well, personally I think we got both anyways.

Nothing weak about it, have watched very closely for rmany years, and have watched him misdirect attention away from his antics while being the biggest leaker there is in the Committee, we need to have the ability to start competitions and upgrades without being constantly frontrun by this person, and his leaks....enough said.

The only leak around here is the one you take on the forums on a daily basis.

You know its the truth come clean, and stop your misdirects, you talk,talk, talk about everything in the game, you think we do not see it but we do, and it is killing the game, it also is not funny, and you need to go off the Committee and as far away form real discussions as possible as you can never be trusted, enough said, no further comment required.

You're meant to represent players and put the best interest of the game ahead of your own gameplay. I don't want those willing to **** up a monthly event to represent me.

Yes, let me just go ahead and unjoin my team... Also as the thread states I still don't think Pink Power has the edge, so while I acknowledge what happened, I simply don't agree with you. The reasons are listed in the OP.

A committee member that is abusing a flaw in the system to intentionally undermine the whole idea of Elimination and disrupting the balance that is a key part of it. Congratz for bringing factionlife into Elimination at this level.That's exactly what we needed. Apparantly it is too hard to let the game mechanichs do it's work as intented. You had to influence and rig it to increase the odds of being in one team with your friends. It's not smart it's not funny it only shows that you do not have the best interest of the game in mind For regular faction members i can see why they don't mind, but for a committee member i would think they cared about the general good of the game. As far as i'm concerned it's cheating. It must be really hard to be without your factionmembers for one week of the year.

Except that again, I don't think Pink Power has any advantage at all. If anything I think all we did was give pink power a fighting chance this year by filling out what was otherwise a weak roster last year.

If we end up the strongest, then again the system is still inherently balanced by design in that there are 11 FFA teams not single bracket elims.

The huge positive you seem to be ignoring is that pink power is no longer a free loss as it was last year. But let me guess, you weren't up in arms about that.

Also, people stack all the teams, as mentioned in the OP no one knew Chedburn changed the selection mechanics, something you seem very intent on ignoring simply to push your little karma bar higher. Regardless of that lack of knowledge I definitely think the result is much healthier for the game than another anemic Pink Power this year. I'd rather a strong team getting KOd round 1 than have any team that has no chance from day 1 again. But hey, that's just me.



In fact, while we're here, let's review some more of my history on the Committee that the general public was up in arms and wanted to lynch me for: I said farm special was OP with 7 energy per JP and needed to be capped so people didn't have near unlimited energy to unleash at a whim. I said, I think it's the best special in the game and I will go after it even WITH it capped. It was then capped. Shitstorm ensued on the forums about it being crap and capped etc. etc. typical lynch Beerstein for having farms nerfed to shit rah rah.

Fastforward to now, as a player I own 2 farms as I said I would with it still capped, and the competition over the special is so fierce all the top farms are losing money to Ad costs, and some owners are outright selling their Farms to the system.

In short: I said nerf this company it's too powerful and as a player something I'll utilize. It got nerfed, I still thought it was powerful and utilized it. 90% of torn wanted me off the committee for nerfing their/their friends companies. So yeah sorry buddy, I give 0 shits what you think the same way I gave 0 shits what people thought then. I'll do what I think is right and if you disagree well you're free to apply to the committee yourself. The idea is that we do have diverse opinions on it.

Oh and what'd I do then? The same thing I'm doing now, laughed about it. If nothing else I love some good forum drama, that's no secret.

While that's a seemingly random past event, let's go ahead and take a look at it...Had that change not happened I'd still be sitting in my farm, but I'd have 43,701 energy stacked and ready to go day 1 of this competition, far more than I can use through the entirety of this competition with the cap in place. Between all farms, potentially enough to run the entire competition. So again, if you think I'm a bad committee member, no shits given, as always I'll do what I think is right in the face of the entirety of Torn as long as I'm able. I will never bend to public outcry. I will do what I think is best regardless of what you tell me you think is best, and with any luck all committee will do the same, even if they disagree. That's the whole point of it.

That said, as again I don't really care what you think, this is more for newer players that might actually buy into the crap you're trying to sell about the committee and staff for Karma.
