Yes they could have but most just wanted to have a decent comp im sure alot didnt think about it regardless PP has a huge target on their backs.
You seem to be confusing your words.
What you call an exploit is merely a utilisation. It is not unfair or dishonest and it does no create a definite advantage, just a desired outcome, whether this outcome will help or hinder is up for debate.
What you describe is the practical and effective use of a mechanism already there from last year. It required no insider knowledge or breaking of rules.
Every formidable faction will have spoken to members about which teams they will join and try to plan to work together. The difference that some of us figured out a way to increase our chances of being on the same side. But! There was no guarantee, it was still a gamble.
I have a suspicion that some players are a little bitter that they did not figure this out themselves.
We are going to have a target on our backs or people could be smart and become our allies, can't hurt having some feisty women/shemales on your side :)

By the salty crew's logic;
Traders who purchase boosters, meds, SED's cheap and wait till elimination and dog tags etc to come about and then sell these goods at spiked prices are also exploiting the game. They actually get a definite benefit, it's probably closer to exploitation than PP. (though still far off)

Yes it is, the reason, not only did they identify the issue (exploit: change sex to gain advantage and be on the same team, bypassing a game control for team randomness and cheating), they did not report it, but chose to exploit it, AND tell all their friends and faction mates (focusing on high stat players to add another layer of exploit) . The fact is, it was done, it is wrong, and now you all have to pay the consequences for it starting with the Committtee members that condoned AND actually changed their sex to gain game advantage for the Elimination competition, the PP Pink Power team needs to be excluded for this year competition, and players doing it sanctioned, and committee members thrown off the committee. (these actions show a blatant lack of ethics, and judgement and prove they cannot be trusted) Pink Power players NOT part of this could continue to compete, but sex changers (M to F) explicitly before the competition to gain advantage by being on the same team, need to be thrown out of the competition, the change DOES NOT work (does not put you in PP) AFTER the competition was started and teams assigned at random. (tested this myself before I chose teams to see if teams changed after the competition and before I chose Pirates) Ched we need action on this exploit. MarlonBrando Art of War Pirates

Pink Power got ahead during 1 day of the recruitment phase of this competition.
At the end of recruitment PP will probably be in a position no better than Knitters or Lettuce were in during last year's competition, which is a better numerical position than PP had last year, but it's not going to be enough to be contenders this time.
Unfortunately, more people needed to be involved in this ruse than what have turned out to be to elevate PP to having a real chance of winning.
At this point of the competition, your better option would be to demand a 'trial by combat'...

Here's the problem with all this lovely reasoning. This flaw was pointed out last year on numerous occasions and instead of fixing it was exploited even more by the elite players. So were left with elite players using it this year and it being fixed next year. Most of those elite players exploiting the system just happen to be connect to staff and player committee members. How does this not scream unfair game play. Just like the stock market, SE use, and every other exploit it will get fixed so the everyday player can't use the flaw but only after those in power have used it to gain an edge. Enjoy the pink fallacy.
it's one of the nice things about a living, evolving game, that people test limits and boundaries, that the community responds, that code is altered, that rules change (except for the nerfing of Farms, I will never forgive that). Correct, this hard push on the system will probably cause a change for next year, just like Kazakhstan did on team wars in its previous iteration. So we get grumpy for a few days, jealous for a few, and then we remember, if it wasn't for the changes and the people and the nuance, who would ever bother with a text based game anyway.

If anything, males becoming females to get the option to join PP was the only chance of transforming PP in to a challenging team and getting away from being the team that all of the other teams are not having to be bothered about.
The problem with the implementation of this plan is that it was not widespread enough and as such there are more elite players outside of PP than within it.
How is it anything but an exploit? OP in essence admits it was but worked out better than he expected.
