If you see my earlier post (3rd from top on the previous page), I did in fact acknowledge that Stretch read the logs and I also commented on Ched's response to that. There's a number of different things that could be the issue, some of which could easily have Ched change the protocol. That doesn't necessarily mean Stretch didn't act according to the protocol at that time, it could just as well mean that Ched saw a flaw in his earlier protocol and decided to improve it.
I'm not saying it's "this" or "that" - I'm just saying the current witchhunt isn't justified based on the evidence I have seen so far, just as I'm pointing out that Ched seems to have taken, what he believes is, appropriate action.
Because regardless of whether Stretch did it, it was still a security issue that needed to be addressed. Ched could have overlooked that possibility in the Officer role and decided that a systematic control should be enforced, just like any other job would do given a possible security issue.
I believe the security issue was addressed before this thread was created - if those logs are true then Chedburn has implemented controls as early as August behind the scenes.
I also believe Champion is using this thread to hurt Stretch and is masking it as a security issue he that he "cares" about. Truth is, he doesn't care if a solution was created. Ive highlighted that controls were implemented based on the information he provided and he could still only focus on whether Stretch did it or not.
False. I do care about the privacy of chat logs... i currenty have many people that give me information and if some staff member from a faction went into my logs without proper justification then abused that info and gave my source a load of abuse and said that i was breaking their trust, it would be a huge issue for me as i always have done my best to protect my sources.
I thought about this situation from all points of view before i made this thread. If this was any other staff member then i would have done the same. If i was genuinely going to join JFA 2 then obviously i would have gone to mug instead of stretch.
You don't have anything to worry about as you likely never file player reports nor does anyone ever file a report against you. Sleep well knowing your PMs are safe from staffers. /s
I am curious as to who are Ched's 'most trusted two or three' staffers though from his comments in the report so I can be more careful about what I say about their faction in PMs in the future.
Yes it was addressed, but was it addressed properly and fully? We can't possibly determine that based on what we have seen
Champion might be hurting Stretch's name, yes, that is an unavoidable scenario if an event (based on what the OP is saying, which isn't necessarily the truth) caused by a certain staff member is publicised. If you go from the viewpoint of only what Nova has said to champ / the screenshots then yes this de facto hurts Stretch. Which is precisely why I think Champ and many others have been asking for a statement from the other perspective of this entire debacle.
If there was just one statement from either Nova, Stretch or Ched this entire mess of a thread could have easily been avoided and Stretch's name wouldn't have been dragged through the dirt. Yes you might get negative comments on those statements, that's something you can't ever avoid, but at least there would be another side to the story instead of all the hypothetical statements that are being made to try and justify what the public can see in the op.
Whilst now you're in a perpetual situation of this thread staying alive because of either people wanting the truth, defending Stretch or attacking Stretch, harming Stretch's reputation even further in the process, potentially and most likely unrightfully.
I can see why the involved parties are not willing to give a statement, it's only logical. But given the traction this topic has gotten, and the amount of people that are also very interested in what actually happened I think it would make more sense to clear all this up and be done with it.
Isnt this settled if Ched changed protocol to investigating private messages? It seems he did honor his word to investigate the issue.
He's kicked players from committee before just for losing trust in those associated with that person (a bit harsh imo) so I dont see how Stretch would still be staff if his integrity was compromised. It seems to me Ched did do right, Stretch did do right, and Champ was right that something happened. Rare...usually everyone is wrong.
I am pro-chaos though so arguing ad nauseum is cool with me. I would love to see more evidence, logs, anything at all which leads to suspicious activity but honestly I dont expect to see anything pertinent happen. The only thing that disappoints me is that there is no-one to kick for being wrong so it feels anti-climactic. Staff are clearly up to snuff for Ched to be satisfied with their work and I am content to trust his assessment. Its a shame they have to deal with so much but I guess thats how it is... Then again...facts should never get in the way of a good blood sport.

Firstly, if Stretch and Nova have a history then he should not have handled the report in the first place.
Why was he going through chat logs at all, let alone chat logs that pertain to TWO people he has personal involvement with.
Remember screenshots can't be posted in chat, so he not only read the chats but followed links posted in those chats to see the images,
He then went around lying about how he got the information, thus attempting to use this ill-gotten information to hurt Nova...
How is Ched okay with a staff member doing all of this? It's not just accidentally coming across info, he abused his position of trust to actively seek out information and used that information in an attempt to hurt another player.
I suspect this cheating issue will have an adverse effect on the monies generated by Torn. I for one have sworn to myself i will never donate another cent to this game because of this exact reason. Infact i have all but quit playing now. With staff playing NPC and scamming new players and now the light shining on staff abuse of powers namely reading private messages for personal gain........
Na i cant justify spending any money here again nor applying loads of my time to said game. I certainly dont blame you for wanting to remove your sub mate!
