Ancient Faction History

Ah yes, Core and Tez chain mugged the majority of the cost back after buying.

Just makes you think ... In the same space of time from now, as players have their RL commitments and newer ones come in to take their place on top of faction merges like recently (FTW + MM) ... What does the future hold and who will be the top factions etc....

good point. i suppose its like evolution, nothing stays as it is. and thats good for torn and everybody playing it. the wind of change keeps blowing.

What about factions like BH, Inquest, SUN, etc...

39th - there use be a history in the faction forum, but i would asking Tyler or rapid_riser

TuS absorbed 2.0. TuS had more respect.

The name was changed to 2.1, representing the join unto the JFK family.

Rapid riser could probably tell you a bit about the old history. He purchased Born Fighting which up until it's destruction at the hands of it's rightful owner, was the oldest faction still in existence.

Born Fighting was meant to be a sub fsction of 39th Street. BF did 24/7 chaining and rapidly (no pun intended) gained respect purely through noob warring. It would have done well with the new chaining system with new players nailing 10k chains.

Unfortuantly a worthless nobody named Woolis stole the faction from rapid riser and the members that worked tirelessly to maintain massive hit count and build the faction.

Eventually Woolis spent all the respect and traveled, at which point rapid did the right and just thing and bombed his faction out of existence so Woolis could not benefit from it.

39th X took in some of the members of Born, but not many stayed with the 39th family in the long run after BF was lost. Huz was a major contributor who was with JFK last I seen. I've hopped around a bit but after the TuS merge with JFK I got a look at JF life and jumped ship to IBB.

BF survivor here. It was fun for a while but the system needed drastic changes and that never came. Too bad the tears and sweat of the noob players went to a waste.

39thX was actually ELF before it got purchases by Rapidriser and became a sub/sister faction of 39th. Nearly all ELF members left because they didn't want to be part of sub. I remember our wars with LS and Calculated, would usually turn into a major guest fest. Surely the most memorable days in Torn for me.

Sure was. It produced my favourite memories in torn. They were the best wars hands down.

Most players now haven't been playing long enough to remember the older HOf factions. 39th and DA are about the only factions left from back then are they not? Unless there are still a few around flying under the radar somewhere.

When I moved over to JFK, most of the core players from EE joined up with TuS. EE stemmed from the original PnB faction which branched off after the infamous PnB AoW war when H00D infiltrated the opposition with sluts at a time you couldn't kick people for a few days. I disagreed with the tactic, EE was born and then merged into TuS when I joined JFK.

My favourite memory of old school faction wars was when 39th warred RAoV and we bombed the **** out of them with the fireworks special. 39th paid me a lot of money (For that time anyway) to keep lowering their respect over a few weeks and it really pissed them off...lol. I also remember the first time a faction war was available to bet on in the bookie and H00D ruined it for everyone by rigging it! I could make a fairly entertaining thread of the stuff I remember from my early days...Maybe one day!

39th were the 4th faction formed when factions were introduced into the game. For a long time we used to have "The oldest warring faction in the game" On our banner. 39th is older than Rapid hell it's older than most players that are still active. IIRC Edwingi is the oldest still active player from those early days.
