In order to find items in the city, do you still need to visit the city once an hour, or is general activity in TC enough?

So is it true that when the items spawn and aren't picked up they stay there till you pick them up?

Thanks!
I have searched Torn City the last 2 days and found nothing.... Why?
You have to zoom in the map to find items. If you want to easily find items, then download DoctorN. It finds items for you
Item spawns are random, going a few days without getting an item is very common.
Whats doctorN?
Mentions: DoctorN v6.5.0 - Definitely not
Its the most useful thing around.

Indeed it is - I have 230-odd items sitting on the map currently.
The only item ever to despawn after appearing on the city map was Love Juice, which was a seasonal event, so feel free to leave them in the city as long as you like. I only collect stuff once a month. I'm curious now, do uncollected city finds contribute to networth?
They don't until you actually pick them them up.
Thanks!
